"Nouwen at his best." —Best Sellers

"A lucid and profoundly simple book." —America

"One's overall response to this book has to be 'Yes.' Yes, this describes a style of ministry desperately needed by all of us." —The Christian Century

What does it mean to be a minister in our modern world? In this hope-filled book, Nouwen offers a fresh interpretation of modern ministry. Here he offers inspiration to men and women who want to be of service in their Church or community but who have found the traditional ways of ministry alienating and ineffective.

According to Nouwen, "the minister is called to recognize the sufferings of his time in his own heart and make that recognition the starting point of his service."

This book is a must read for anyone who is a caregiver or a 'listener'. Not only does the book help you to help others, it explains not only how but why we each should look after ourselves so that we can be more effective in helping our loved ones.

This book refects the journey of human grace. All of us go through challenging times in our life. Our hearts break, we are hurt, and yet, we find strength to move forward. This strength to move forward is the essence of this book written to reveal the nature of one's soul's capacity to rise above ourselves and find peace in God.

Wonderful book, deeply profound and Spiritual. A great choice for anyone who wants a closer walk with our Life Guard--Christ. Within the very first chapter...it will tell you...why this world...is so very lost, Spiritually and morally!
