Barnes & Noble - Lisa Zhito
Nichole Nordeman's eloquent, insightful lyrics and straightforward pop musicality have made her one of Christian music's most heralded female performers. Woven & Spun, Nordeman's third release for Sparrow, showcases the same consistent quality from this talented singer-songwriter but offers a new lyrical point of view. While still penning confessional lyrics and intricate, piano-based compositions, Nordeman takes the focus off herself and addresses the topic of God's goodness. The result isn't a praise & worship album, but one that artfully bridges the gap between the contemporary Christian and modern worship styles. "My Offering" and the opening track, "Holy," ...

"My Offering" and the opening track, "Holy," are two songs of praise as moving as anything heard in 2002, while her cover of Peter Gabriel's "In Your Eyes" carries a strong spiritual message of love. The tender "I Am" deftly addresses the topic of parental love, marrying it with a view of God's love for His people. By giving a personal viewpoint to the idea of praising God -- something few vertically oriented songs do -- Nordeman has given depth, heart, and a huge amount of relevance to her praise. Give Nichole Nordeman a big Amen -- and an A-plus -- for that.

    3 Words: Un - Be - Lievable!!!!

Nichole Nordeman has reaffirmed her musical genius to me once again. I ran out and bought this CD the morning it was released and played it in my car. Sure enough, before I got home I had tears streaming down my face after listening to "I AM". ME - a 30 year old guy! Nichole, I believe, has one of the greatest song writing gifts in Chirstian music today. She crafts every note - every lyric - to absolute perfection. This album was worth the wait. If you know Nicholes work I am probably preaching to the choir. If you haven't heard her other albums, or if you have only heard the singles - allow God to bless you and pick up any one of her CD's. Keep up the good work Nichole!! And Next time you tour in Southern California PLEASE play more than 5 songs!! I think Steven Curtis Chapman should be opening for YOU!!!

    Best Through and Through

This latest offering by Ms. Nordeman is full of gratitude and introspection. She has taken the term "low-self esteem" and applied a spiritual remedy. The songs are singable and accessible, yet still have NN's thoughtful lyrics behind it. Charlie Peacock has done a great job with her music, as has Marc Hammond. Many of the songs deserve lots of airplay and I hope they get it. She has listened and learned from her tours with Clay Crosse, Zoegirl, Steven Curtis Chapman, 4Him, Cademans Call, and many others. Her music reflects growth and integrity. Her 'filler' tunes are better than those on "This Mystery". I get a feeling of 'newness' to this CD, similiar to "Wide Eyed". The pop tunes outnumber the tear jerkers, but those are worth it! "Healed" has got to be the best song based on a verse I've heard in ages! "Even Then" is my favorite.."thank you jesus even when ..." So is "Gratitude", which actually talks about giving thanks for the 'bad' things. She is not afraid to completely bare her soul in the most poetic way. For all those who have felt like losers, not good enough, and just down right low---listen to 'Woven and Spun' and be lifted and reminded...
