About the Author

He began his journey as an adventurous and fearless youth with a burning desire to learn how to fly. Seeing his chance when the Vietnam War created a demand for helicopter pilots, he enlisted to perform one of the most dangerous occupations known. Years after this experience, and without much formal training in writing, he began this story. The short story was a long slow catharsis guided only by his primitive need for relief from the burdens he carried. Years of picking through his smoldering emotions
and rummaging through the events of a painful past have resulted in this short story. After leaving the military in November of 1970, he made several attempts to provide a livelihood for himself and his family. For the last 28 years of his career, he found work as a public servant assisting other
veterans to be a rewarding endeavor. Along the way, his interest in writing has resulted in several published articles and this gripping short story.
