Overview

A New Adult Romance Novel by USA Today Bestselling Author Priscilla West

“There would be no happy ending for us. He was too damaged. I was too broken.”

Two years ago, Lorrie’s mother was murdered. But that wasn’t the end of it. Reeling from the tragedy, Lorrie’s father spiraled into alcohol, depression, and finally suicide.

The two most important people in Lorrie’s life are both gone but she’s still alive.

Trying to recover from the tragedy, Lorrie returns to campus, ready to pick up the pieces of her life. All Lorrie wants is to get back to “normal.”

Then she meets Hunter. The man, the legend, “The Hammer.”

Hunter is a cage fighter who takes on every fight like he’s got nothing to lose. His life is a tangled mess of girls, booze, and fist fights. And while it may seem like he’s got a devil-may-care attitude, he’s fighting a private cage-match with a monster he can’t defeat.

Lorrie knows that Hunter is exactly the type of guy she should stay away from, especially in her fragile state, but Hunter has other ideas.

As Hunter and Lorrie grow closer together, will they be able to overcome their pain and heal each other? Or will they both end up wrecked?

An Okay book. This is the type of book that you pick up because the blurb intrigues you and you want to delve right into it and find out what the story really is about. Sadly, it was also the kind of book that doesn't live up to its hype, simply because the concept was not executed properly.

Don't get me wrong, this story had a lot of things going for it. First, the characters were complex and interesting and seeing them come together should have made for a wonderful read. However, it was too chaotic and cagey. Add to that the fact that the pace of the story dragged in the beginning and whatever anticipation I had about the main characters getting together slowly vanished leaving in its place disappointment.

Second, the emotions and angsty level of the story was something I was looking forward to. I love watching how my characters overcome their demons and I very much wanted to see Lorrie and Hunter do that in this story. But again, it was not to be. It focused mainly on Lorrie's problems, which was fine up to a point. But I did not appreciate having to reach almost the end of the book to find out what the hell was troubling Hunter. And then not having them deal with it at all.

And lastly, the romance between these two had a lot of potential since their chemistry was palpable from the start. But really, some things are just better in small doses. It threw me off the story and whatever investment I had made towards their relationship succeeding, was squashed after Lorrie and Hunter spent a few days together. Sex does not a connection make. Not for me.

I admit to being curious about what is going to happen next, but I don't think I'll be in any hurry about it.

All in all, an okay book. Especially if you don't mind cliffhangers. It just didn't work for me.

I received a copy from the publisher through NetGalley in exchange for my honest review, so here it is. This is an emotional roller coaster ride and you will be glued to each word just to see what happens. We meet Lorrie starting a semester at college. She has deferred the last three semesters due to unforeseen events in her life. Two years ago her mother is murdered by her stepfather and a few months ago her father committed suicide because he still loved her mother and can't live life without her in it. Now Lorrie is trying to move on and be "normal". She is on a double date with her best friend and the guy is a douche. There are others at the bar talking about something and Lorrie heads out back to see what is going on. There she sees the man who saved her from the icy waters of Lake Teewee, Hunter "The Hammer" Jensen. Hunter is an MMA fighter and he is all muscle and hard body, not to mention gorgeous. Hunter sees something in her he can relate to and wants to be near her. They both have baggage and really need to stay away from each other. But they are drawn together. So much pain for them both, ex-girlfriend and secrets are hard to hide. Love Priscilla West's writing style, I have read many of her stories and can't wait for Rescued (Wrecked book 2). This is a great story. Pick it up and enjoy the ride, I sure did.

OMG, I want the next book! RIGHT NOW!! Do you love MMA fighter

OMG, I want the next book! RIGHT NOW!!

Do you love MMA fighter novels? Do you love characters with tragic pasts? Well then you will LOVE this book!

It's been a while since I've read a book with a fighter as a main character, and this was a fantastic way to get back into them!

As Lorrie puts it herself, she and Hunter are damaged goods...broken. But what neither of them seems to realize, at least in the beginning, is that they still have so much to offer each other, and that by being with each other, they could have the opportunity to heal. Lorrie's parents are both dead, one by murder, the other later by suicide. Hunter doesn't seem to know about it, despite the fact that the trial for her mother's murder was televised, and most of their college campus is constantly buzzing with rumors about her and her family. But Hunter has a secret of his own that he's keeping. If they would just both be completely honest with each other...*sigh*...but they aren't.

It's so easy to see how much Hunter cares about Lorrie, even if she is too blind to see it all the time. And it made it very easy for me to fall in love with Hunter. Seriously, y'all will just want to fix all his brokenness, and love him up. :) And Lorrie, I wish I could reach right into this story, and be another person who is there for her 100%. People are cruel, and she deserves so much better than what most of her fellow classmates give her. They are constantly spreading rumors, or making conjectures, and it was driving me CrAzY! Lorrie is so much stronger than she gives herself credit for. To be honest, if I were in her same situation, I don't know if I could have handled it half as well as she did.

This is the first book by Priscilla West that I've ever read, but boy does she know how to take her readers on a rollercoaster ride of emotions! Her writing is raw, and honest, and she reveals things at just the right times to make it so you have to know what happens next! And let's not forget, there is some total HOTNESS going on in this book! I read this book almost in one sitting (I slept for a few hours in the wee hours of the morning.) and I can't imagine how much hair I would have pulled out if I wouldn't have had the time to finish reading it right away. Lorrie and Hunter's story will give you ALL THE FEELS, and the ending will leave you craving more! I can't wait until the next book comes out!

    A MUST READ

I was totally addicted to these books! Once I started reading it I couldn't put it down, the story moves along and there is never any parts that drag on! A great modern day "love" story that is not sicky sweet, cant wait for more in this series. I have now read all three series she has written and NEED more! Forget 50 Shades, this is a great story with steamy love too!

Lorrie Burnham had been through hell.  After her mother's murder

Lorrie Burnham had been through hell.  After her mother's murder and then her father's suicide, she decides to go back to college.  This is where she meets Hunter Jensen, cage fighter and fellow college student.  He wants to date her but she's not ready for a relationship, so they become friends.  When you spend a lot of time with someone, feelings are bound to deepen.  They became inseparable.  They both have issues that they've not told each other about and secrets are never good for anyone, especially these two.

This book grabbed a hold of me and wouldn't let go until I read the last page.  This is a fantastic emotionally charged romance between two people who needed each other but were afraid to tell each other the messed up hand that life had dealt them.  They would rather live in "new romance fantasy land" than deal with real life issues.  They had explosive chemistry!  Hunter had tremendous will power to just be her friend when all he wanted to do was devour her.  WOW!  I was so engulfed in this book that I lost track of time.  There was no ending because this story continues in the next book.  I loved it and I can't wait to read the next one in this amazing series.

The title of this book is fitting, because the ending left me wrecked! I don't know if I'm just really emotional or what, but this book had its tear jerker moments. I couldn't wait to start the next one and see how the story ended! Love Priscilla West's style and flow, can't wait to see more from her!

I like this story, but Lorrie is a little whiney and Hunter is a little too good to be true. My biggest problems is that my Nook copy has lines whited out, almost like the author was editing the story. Hope the sequel doesn't have that problem.

    One to read!!!!!!

This is a very emotional story. Both main charactors are broken almost beyond repear, but somehow they find everything gets better when their in it together. The dialog between these two is mostly sarcastic and funny as hell. Until rumors rear their ugly heads and the pain from each of their pasts come back to haunt them both.

*I RECEIVED A COPY OF THIS BOOK VIA NETGALLEY IN EXCHANGE FOR AN HONEST REVIEW*

Honestly I was a little wary before I began reading this book. I'm a fan of the college romance & I'm a fan of the athlete/fighter stories. The drawback to reading so many stories especially in the New Adult genre is that certain plot lines begin to feel redundant.
I was pleasantly surprised that Wrecked actually kept me interested and even smiling at a few different occasions.
Not so surprising is that we have the hot tattooed & muscled bad boy fighter with a reputation in the cage and in the bedroom, who becomes intrigued with the girl who does not want a relationship. They quickly develop a blurred line friendship although Hunter makes it clear that he wants more.

"To Snorrie and Gunther. May their friendship be filled with miscommunication and drama."

Once they give in to their true desire it becomes an all consuming passion for each other.
They both have their own secrets...private battles... and thus gives the story a twist that I honestly wasn't expecting. It something that gave this story an edge over the other "fighter stories" I've read previously. No spoilers...

"Maybe a little pain now is better than a lot of pain later..."

The highlight of this story for me is Hunter.
How could I not feel a little swoony over a six foot two, ripped brawler, with gorgeous eyes and a tender side that makes your heart flutter a bit? (Answer: I can't.)
Did I mention he kind of looks like Tom Hardy? **SWOON**
But even more than his looks is his personality. I loved what he brought to the story. He has a genuine sweet side that made him so endearing.
The drawback for me unfortunately was Lorrie.
*Sigh* I hate that I felt frustrated with her most of the story. The mixed signals and jealousy began to irk me just as much as they drove Hunter nuts. I get that she has her own baggage to deal with but I hate that she seemed to use that as her defense for the push/pull going on with Hunter. Some of her reactions were a little over the top as well.
Though I might add that I did feel slightly more defensive of her towards the end of the book.

Be aware this book does leave on a cliff hanger but because the second book is already available you don't have to wait too long to find out what happens next.

I'm giving this book a solid 3.5 Stars

I received this book from NetGalley in exchange for my honest review.
This is an amazing story! Lorrie has had an unfortunate turn of events in her life and now as she goes back to college after missing several semesters she is simply looking to get back into the swing of things and try to have a normal stress free life, the last thing she expected was to run into the gorgeous bad boy Hunter. This book really gives a great story line and makes you fall in love with the characters. I also loved that you had a chance to see and understand the feelings between the characters before it jumped into the naughty stuff. For an Erotica type story it wasn't overly detailed just giving enough details to make it hot!!
I would recommend this book for anyone who loves romance, chick-lit, and erotica. I can not wait to read the second book Rescued!!

Lorrie is a complex girl. She's been touched by great tragedy repeatedly and she finds it hard to cope. Trust doesn't come easily to her and when MMA fighter Hunter challenges her to come out of her self imposed isolation, things get quite interesting. A totally relatable MC. Hunter has problems of his own but he's determined to have Lorrie in his life, any way she would let him. The situations Hunter gets in before Lorrie finally sees the light are realistic. I felt his confusion and frustration. I was legit enthralled by the tale and did not hesitate to spend the $4 for the second part of the story. For someone that frequents the library several times a week and searches for "free" on Barnes & Noble religiously, it's kind of a big deal. This habit of mine would leave me and mine homeless if I indulged every time I had the urge : ) This was much too irresistible. I am an instant fan of this "new to me" author and look forward to reading more!
