She’s been wondering the same thing.

With her Hollywood dreams long gone, Abigale now has a nice, neat, uncomplicated life—until the day her perfect fiancé needs to talk. She can vent her frustrations and sketch out a new plan. Zach just hopes he’s part of it. Because he’s been in love with Abigale his entire life.

When the journal falls into Zach’s hands, he discovers Abigale wants a new man. And fast. Nothing more than a hot distraction. Zach has a plan of his own: He’s going to be that man. It’s his last chance. Abigale might be out to shake up her life, but Zach’s out to reinvent it. Now, all he has to do is convince Abigale that life can go as planned.

Editorial Reviews

Publishers Weekly
Former Hollywood child stars trade friendship for romance in paranormal and romantic suspense author Walker’s first sweet contemporary. Former actress Abigale Applegate, dumped by her fiancé shortly before the wedding, devises a plan to wreck her life, including having “a torrid affair with a hot guy.” Her best friend and former co-star, Zach Barnes, has been in love with Abby for years; when he discovers Abby’s plan, he decides he’ll be the guy in question. Zach’s devotion to Abby only enhances the blazing passion with which he approaches their affair, and the sexy surprises—little gifts, sexting, a romantic weekend getaway—send their comfortable relationship into uncharted (and utterly hot) territory. While the stumbling blocks the two put in their own way can be frustrating, the end result is delightful. Walker (If You Know Him) ably demonstrates her skill with a contemporary scenario, inspired by real-world book Wreck This Journal by Keri Smith. Agent: Irene Goodman, Irene Goodman Agency. (Apr.)
Kirkus Reviews
When Abby's fiance dumps her weeks before the wedding, her best friend Zach wonders if it's finally time to risk everything and tell her how he really feels. Best friends Abigale Applegate and Zach Barnes were child stars of a hit sitcom in the '90s. Now in their early 30s, the two have left Hollywood behind for good, relocating to Tucson where Abby runs her own catering company and Zach owns a tattoo parlor. Abby attempts to control her life to the smallest detail, but her Grand Plan is derailed when her fiance dumps her. At first devastated, Abby comes to understand that she feels more disappointed that the plan failed than upset that Roger left her. Zach gives Abby a freestyle-approach journal, encouraging her to relax and live life a little more spontaneously. Abby comes up with a new goal list that includes some out-of-the-box tasks, one of which is to have a torrid affair. But once she sets the goal, she is disconcerted to realize the person she'd most like to fill the role of wild lover is none other than her best friend, Zach. Zach is happy to oblige, since he's secretly been in love with Abby as long as he's known her. The chemistry between them is suddenly scorching, but how do you explain to the girl you love that you want forever when it seems she's asked for a quick, hot fling? And has Zach jeopardized the very special something they already have for an uncertain chance at everything he wants? Walker's newest stand-alone title is compelling and will especially satisfy fans of the best-friend-risks-it-all-for-love storyline. There are a number of details that add interesting texture and layers to the plot—the free-form journal, for instance, as well as Abby and Zach's past as child stars—though some of these elements might have been fleshed out more and will occasionally leave the audience feeling as if some loose ends remain untied. Also, occasional egregiously vulgar language may turn some readers off. Overall, though, a successful romance and a good read. With its touching best-friends-to-lovers arc, the novel is both sexy and poignant.

    Poorly Developed Story

I really didn't like this story very much - I haven't even finished it yet because I became tired of the lack of character development and the over reliance upon sex to fill in the story gaps. I never really saw the connection between the main characters other than sex. The book talked about how they were best friends and Zach loved Abigale so much, yet the only aspect oft he relationship that was explored was the sexual connection. It was hard for me to relate to the characters when I couldn't see why Zach loved her so much. Abigale's character came across as weak to me. I thought the story would examine her growth as an individual, but really the only thing I learned about was her constant desire to have sex with Zach and get a tattoo. I also felt the repeated use of offensive language was unneeded and added absolutely nothing to the storyline.

Wrecked by Shiloh Walker is wickedly sexy and emotional read.

Abigale Applegate left Hollywood behind many years ago. Her days as a child actor took an emotional toll on Abigale and she wanted more out of life then the glitz and glamour. Everything with her new life was running smoothly until her fiancé dumped her. Abigale turns to the one man who has stayed by her side since those acting days. Former child star Zach Barnes.

Zach Barnes has been best friends with Abigale since they starred in a series together. What she doesn’t know is he has been in love with her since the beginning. Zach offers his friendship to Abigale to help her recover from being dumped. He gives her a journal to help redefine her life. Zach also hopes this will be his chance to get Abigale to see him as more then a friend.

Abigale soon realizes the man she has been looking for has been by her side all along. But she doesn’t know that Zach has suppressed his feelings for years. Will this change how she views their new romance?

Wrecked is jammed packed with snap and sizzle. The chemistry between friends turned to lovers is off the charts. I loved Zach’s family and I hope his siblings get their own stories. Shiloh Walker always delivers a great read.

This was a book that took me a bit by surprised. I didn't expect it to have the level of emotional angst it had or to find myself needing Zach to finally get this feelings all out on the table.

Abigale Applegate and Zach Barnes were child stars on one of America's favorite family sitcoms. Both us them gave up the glitz and pitfalls of Hollywood to live a somewhat quiet and normal life in Arizona. But when Abigale's engagement ends, Zach decides it's finally time to show Abby just who she is meant to be with. But Abby is a woman that never does anything without a plan and it's up to Zach to show Abby that you can live and love without having it written down.

What I loved about this story was Zach. He made this book for me. He was one of those guys that you'd never expect to wear his heart on his sleeve. And despite how he felt, he was always exactly what Abby needed...even when it broke his heart. He was a special man and I was on the edge of my seat hoping, praying, needing him to get this HEA (he really deserved it).

I wasn't sure about Abby, because I couldn't believe she could be that clueless about Zach. But she grew on me. She was determined to live life on her terms after what she went through with her horrible stage mother. Unfortunately that meant she lived by her journal and her written plans and didn't see much outside of her plan. That's the only reason I can think she never realized what she had right in front of her with Zach. But when she's forced outside of her comfort zone, she does finally manage to open her eyes.

It was a great read and one that had me rooting for Abby to finally open to eyes to just what was out there for her.

    Fun & sexy

    ## Oh how I loved this book. It was SUPERB. Normally I don't really care for the 'friends to lovers' angle because in my mind the hero and heroine get stuck in the 'friend zone' and the sexual chemistry is lacking. However, these two had amazing chemistry. I loved both characters for sure but the hero especially was tremendous. I love how the author didn't write Zach as a man-slut as most authors do these days, contantly reiterating how many women they've bedded over and over. I love how he stood up to his friends and family who were trying to ruin things for them. I love how she was everything to him and how fiercely he loved her. I just plain loved him. He was euphoria personified. One of my favorite heroes ever! And it doesn't hurt that the sex was hot, hot, hot. I hope there will be a story for Zane but please please not with Keelie (she was so awful in this book I could never see her as a heroine). What a fun & sexy read. Nice job Ms. Walker.

    Insipid

My fourth book by this author; my least favorite. Two shallow characters that have spent 17 unable to communicate, spend another 200 pages not communicating. Does this really happen? The supporting characters were soooo much more interesting that the RLs! Well written, not a waste of my time, but not my favorite.

As my first book from Shiloh Walker I didn't really know what to expect. I wasn't sure if it would be really hot or really sweet or somewhere in between. It was both and I loved it. I loved the hot, hot scenes that were wonderfully done. I loved the sweet, romantic scenes that made me melt. The writing was easy to follow and the characters were well developed and made you feel their emotions as if you were in the story. Zach and Abby have been friends forever. They have always been there for one another through ups and downs. There are no judgments between them. Just pure, loving friendship. We get to see what happens when they take things a little further than friendship in this story.

When I picked up Wrecked, I was trying to figure out how a whole book that people are raving over could be based on the friends to lovers plot without sounding like a lot of other friends to lovers stories out there. Well, it worked. It wasn't like other books with a similar plot. It was different. It was really, really good and I honestly could not put it down. I read it in about a day even though I did have to sneak peeks at my phone throughout the day while I was at work or waiting for an appointment to read a few pages here and there.

There are so many things I liked about this story but I don't want to spoil it for those yet to read it so I am trying to share enough but not too much in this review. I had some absolute favorite parts that have affected my personal life. There were times I was reading this book when I laughed, cried, and yelled in my head at the characters. The intimate scenes were very well written for the characters and the story. They were hot and romantic and I think they truly spoke to the love and respect that Zach and Abby had for one another. I am picky about the love scenes I read - I don't like too many in a contemporary romance and I like them to have meaning, and these were good.

The secondary characters were enjoyable to read about as well. I loved Marin's friendship with Zach and Abby and her ability to tell them both the truth no matter what they wanted to hear. I really liked Zach's brother Zane's role in the story. He was put in a tough position with Abby and it turned out so good. I really hope that there will be more books with these characters because I am not ready to let them go. Bottom line - if you are looking for a contemporary romance that is both sweet and hot at the same time, I highly recommend you try Wrecked by Shiloh Walker. You will not regret it.

Sweet, sexy, friends to lovers contemporary romance. Child stars

Sweet, sexy, friends to lovers contemporary romance.
Child stars Zach Barnes & Abigale Applegate have left the Hollywood life behind but not each other.  Zach has been Abby’s best friend for 20 years so when she gets dumped two months before her wedding she calls Zach.  The problem is that Zach has no problem with the impending marriage falling through because he has loved Abby his whole life.  Everybody sees it but her.  So when Abby wants to celebrate her new found freedom with a torrid affair Zach sees a way to make her see him.  He figures if he can get her into bed maybe she will let him into her heart as well.
Check your brain at the door and enjoy the ride.  This was a fun read.  I loved that this time it was the guy holding the torch for the girl and the girl being totally oblivious.

    Adorable couple and great read!
I very much enjoyed Zach and Abby's story a great deal. It was a very different book than I am used to from Shiloh Walker as it is not a paranormal or a romantic suspense, but the characters and the story is wonderful. I want to know more about the Barnes brothers, so I'm hoping for more installments of this series.

Love that it's the man waiting and longing for the woman. They're both strong characters, not wimpy and whiny. Can see several storylines coming from this book. So want more from mom. She's cool!

“This story has a small town, sweet and sexy romance feel with just an edge of emotion.” ~Under the Covers

WRECKED started off with a surprise. First of all, because it’s really the first time I read this author with this type of book. I’ve Shiloh’s contemporary romance before, but this one is very much so a sweet and sexy type. So needless to say a surprise for me.

Zach and Abby were very popular child stars and had a successful show together. Now adults, they’ve both stayed away from Hollywood. Abby is a planner and had her life mapped out. She’s checked every item off her list ahead of time, except the wedding. Her fiance thought she was really meant to go back to her life of glitz and glamour and dumps her before the wedding claiming she’s not being herself. Zach, who is and has always been her best friend, is left to try and pick up the broken pieces.

But I have to tell you about Zach, because this man is hot. First of all, from child star to sort of bad boy…. Zach now owns a tattoo shop and yes, he’s a tattoo artist. Not your typical career choice considering where he came from. And then there’s the fact that yes, he has tats. I admit I’m a goner for that. But he’s also solid, and I don’t mean physically only. He’s the best friend, reliable Zach, who you can always count on. A shoulder to cry on. He’s revolved his life around Abby because he’s always been in love with her. Life is now giving him another chance and he’s risking it all to go after what he wants.

So he gives Abby a book called WRECK THIS JOURNAL. And this book turns her planned life upside down and gives her that freedom to explore things and let life happen. One of the things she wants to accomplish is to have an affair and Zach of course volunteers with the intention of making her see they are perfect for each other.

Abby’s planning nature is not something I personally understand because, well I just don’t operate that way. So she got a little on my nerves at times. But I have to give it to the girl, she threw her own caution to the wind and went for what she wanted! And ended up with very sexy and sweet, caring and attentive, Zach in her bed and in her life. I think you get the point that I may have a crush on him.

This story has a small town, sweet and sexy romance feel with just an edge of emotion that made this read a quick and enjoyable for me. I’m definitely looking forward to reading more of this side of Ms. Walker. If you like your heroes hot and sweet you have to read this one!

Excellent storyline from Shiloh Walker:   REVIEW: Wrecked is a s

Excellent storyline from Shiloh Walker:   REVIEW: Wrecked is a storyline about two friends-Abigale and Zach-who have known each other-forever.  Brought together as child stars headlining the sitcom   KATE and NATE Abigale and Zach each left the Hollywood lifestyle behind when the show was cancelled.   Zach went on to do bit parts but finally went back to school and pursued a successful career as a tattoo artist.  Abigale filed for emancipation from her overbearing, money-hungry mother at seventeen and fled.
Abigale is one of those people who made lists- a bucket list-of sorts where she would list what she wanted to accomplish before she reached the age of thirty-marriage, children, love: and Abby thought she found the perfect man until the day he revealed he wanted KATE-the star-and not Abby-the caterer.

Throughout the story, Shiloh reveals a lifelong friendship that developed between Zach and Abby-a friendship that was more for Zach.  And like many storylines, Abby was oblivious to Zach’s feelings.  Zach was always there for Abby and when her fiancé dropped the bomb, Zach was there to pick up the pieces.  He offered Abby a personal journal to write about her feelings, her needs and, her wants-Wreck This Journal-and Zach soon discovered that Abby wanted a torrid affair.  Zach was going to make sure-he-was part of that affair.
The storyline is about two people who love each other and the realization that there is more.  Everyone knows that Zach has loved and has been in love with Abby since they were children but Abby has worn ‘virtual blinders’ to Zach’s affections and feelings.  Not wanting to push Abby away Zach has waited on the sidelines –forever-hoping one day that Abby would open her eyes and see the man who will promise her the world.
The secondary characters are colorful and in many ways an integral part of the storyline.  From Abby’a overbearing and controlling mother to Zach’s extended family of loving brothers and co-workers at ‘Steel Ink’. There are several potential future storylines, especially as it concerns Zach’s brother and I hope Shiloh has many ideas flowing through her pen.
WRECKED is a wonderful, sometimes heartbreaking, head-nodding look at two people who belong together and the eye opening realization that everything you have always wanted may be sitting next to you, watching the late night movie, sharing tears and buttered popcorn.  Congratulations to Shiloh Walker and WRECKED.
