One of the best 'How to's' I have read. The suggested exercises and checklists are excellent. Great tools to use if you are serious about learning to write. Highly recommended, and maintains my interest like a fiction novel.

The Description & Setting volume for the Write Great Fiction series might not be the last word on these subjects, or the one book that has it all, but it provides a good overview and plenty of material for further reflection. Well worth the purchase price.

A well-written guide to fiction description and setting. Easy to follow hints and guidelines, with exercises that will help you tone those writing muscles to perfection. Even though it is intended for fiction writers, these hints can also improve your non-fiction writing.

This book has exceeded my expectation; not only did it keep my scattered brain focused on the how-to's of writing fiction, but it provided me with great motivation to practice, practice, practice. Therefore, Description & Setting is now joining other great reads on the subject of fiction in my library. It is very likely I will be returning to it's pages for reminders on the basic structure of writing good fiction.
