Updated information and revision will make this book even more useful as a handy guide to grammar, punctuation, and spelling.
A gifted few might know and remember the innumerable rules, and exceptions to the rules, of grammatical English, but the the rest of us require at least one good reference book. Jan Venolia has given us that with Write Right!, a 209-page guide that everyone who cares about good writing should own. It is concise and contains both a glossary and an excellent index, so readers are spared the dreary task of searching endless pages to locate exactly what they are looking for. As a freelance copyeditor, I begin every new project with four references at my side: the Chicago Manual of Style, Merriam-Webster's Collegiate Dictonary, Roget's II: The New Thesaurus, and Write Right! by Jan Venolia. However, this reference isn't just for writers and others in the publishing world. Its format is easy to use and contains an abundance of examples, making it perfect for busy professionals, students, and everyone in between. If you appreciate the role that good writing plays in almost any career field, do yourself a favor and buy this book. Was this review helpful? Yes NoThank you for your feedback.
