A fiction writer's resource for creating realistic, convincing fight scenes from author and martial arts instructor, Alan Baxter.
Posted August 22, 2013
As a fiction writer with virtually no real world experience in martial arts of any kind, I needed an authoritative primer on how to create a realistic hand to hand combat scene for my latest novel. Alan Baxter's book was exactly what I was looking for. He has years of experience as a competitive martial artist, so he knows his stuff. He explained in detail how to avoid all the common cliches we see in TV and movies, and backed up his lessons with an example of a fight scene he created for a book of his own. This book is required reading for any fiction writer, no matter the genre. If you want to write fight scenes that are accurate and not movie/TV fantasy, buy this book. Was this review helpful?
