A book about a young girl and her family growing up in Canada, during WWI. Naomi the main character is Japnanese and is always fighting(socially) the canadians and their government. I read this book for an Honors English application project, on Economic Crises. No one that has read this book has ever said that they liked it; but i beg to differ! I really enjoyed the book, especially the details on the struggles the family went through, What we (Americans) and the Canadians did to the Japanese was horrible, putting them in camps and taking from them there self respect and dignity. We were treating them almost as Hitler did to the Jews. Yet we had an excuse, we were scared. This is an excellent book with non-stop suspense cover to cover. Was this review helpful?
