    An Easy Read!

I HATE reading, however, I was able to read 'Writing For Quick Cash' with great ease. It was very helpful and as I write my book, I am easily able to go back and find answers to questions that I have regarding publishing, etc., due to the fact that this book is written clearly and simply and gives so much information.

This book is inspirational for kids and adults

My daughter and I have both enjoyed this book. She is 12 years old and after spotting it in our family room, wanted to try her hand at writing some greeting cards. It's an example of a writing area I'd never dreamed of before reading 'Writing for Quick Cash.' Following this author's advice, I have published a few things and look forward to trying more. Now I have the self-confidence, not to mention the published 'clips,' to proceed. I spotted this at a nearby Barnes & Noble store during their literary festival, wishing I'd met the author. But maybe I'll enroll in a seminar online as I'd love to write more. This author tells it like it is as she's been down the freelance path. But she gives you hope, and honest assessment of what skill and education you might need. Some of the areas she discusses require less education, some more. There is a real assortment, and many resources and websites listed too.

If this book doesn't get you started -- dont bother!

I wish to tip my hat to Loriann Hoff Oberlin. She has not only written a wonderfully succinct, thorough, inspiring book on the writing industry and how to hone your own bit of the craft to help you make money in those hard times we all suffer whilst making our way to the Best Seller List; she has also given seasoned writers a creative kick in the word processor -- and as always with steady hand to help along the way should you need it. I had the distinct pleasure to meet Loriann at a signing she did at the Barnes & Noble in Pittsburgh, Pa. Having discovered Writing For Quick Cash only days before (reading and highlighting till my eyes saw yellow) I was completely engrossed and inspired. I planted myself in the first row. Waiting for her to speak we chatted a minute and then afterwards we spoke some more. She is personable and warm giving any resourceful information she has. She truely wishes those with the interest to be the best they can be and to be successful. Meeting her, attending her signing and reading her book have literally catapulted my writing career from a wish to a way of life. Thank you Loriann! If this book doesn't get you started -- don't bother!

great advice for experienced writers too!

I thought WRITING FOR QUICK CASH was a useful book for all types of writers, as I've been freelancing for five years. It gave me many new ideas beyond the business and corporate writing I do -- fun things like greeting cards, puzzles, humor, on-hold messages (which I'd never thought of), and even new ways to get into magazines, books and online markets. I would recommend this book for any writer -- beginner or experienced because I can tell the ideas will increase my income. I also plan to buy it for a college graduate I know who is searching for some sort of outlet for her English major. Good first-person anecdotes add to the reading. I really enjoyed this book.

WFQC is full of great ideas

WFQC offers insight into several areas of the publishing world. Great refresher overview for the experienced writer, and a great introduction to the basics for the new writer or writers seeking new things to pursue. Highly recommended. Also, see Writing for Money by Oberlin.

    Jump Start Your Writing Career!

This book provides a no-nonsense approach to the business of writing. While you may be an excellent writer, do you know how to approach publishers and agents? This book is written by an experienced author who knows the ins and outs of the industry. Writing can often be frustrating, and Ms. Hoff Oberlin's advice and insights are valuable and will save a writer both time and anguish when applied. This book covers various venues. What I found especially helpful was the chapter on 'The book Business.' Here I learned how to research different publishing houses and formally submit a book proposal.

    Who can't use more money?

Writing for Quick Cash gives readers dozens of ideas on how to make money, which is great in a struggling economy. Good discussions of the realities of publishing post 9-11, and how you can work productively online to research and find markets for your work. As the author says, you may not get wealthy, but you can add to your bank account. The harder you work, and the more you submit, the more you can earn. Many ideas for the novice or professional. Sidebars devoted to worthwhile topics make this an enjoyable book. I'd recommend for anyone wanting to pursue their inner muse -- or for a talented friend this Christmas.
