Wrong Way Out

School Library Journal - School Library Journal
Teenage Jackie, beleaguered by problems at home, begins drinking and finds that it makes her forget that her parents are separated. Her best friend tries to help, as does Matt, a recovered teenage alcoholic. Jackie does accept professional help at the end of this well-constructed, if somewhat overly dramatic theme novel that is written partially in diary form. The book is a must add, as it stresses the long road an alcoholic faces before recovery can be reached. Hotline numbers and brief definitions are an additional plus. --Alice Cronin, Mountainside Public Library, NJ-
