Is there any quest at all?

The insane son of Professor Xavier goes back in time to destroy the one person he perceives to be behind all of the mutant misery on this planet: Magneto! The small regiment of X-Men under the leadership of Storm attempts to foil this maniacal plan, but fails. Instead Legion accidentally kills his own father and everything backfires. And as Professor Xavier's death is felt throughout the cosmos, a conniving immortal watches and waits for a new dawn. The dawn of the 'Age of Apocalypse'. This is the first book that sparked the untimely Age of Apocalypse. If you're familiar and a die-hard fan of the Marvel 'What If' series, then this book's a great treat for you. It's a book asking the question what would've happened to the Marvel Universe if Professor-X hadn't lived (or existed) to establish the X-Men? It's basically a good book with all the twists and turns of a typical X-Men story. A good read, but after reading all books that happened after this one (the alternative X-Men books that followed Legion Quest) you'd feel very depressed knowing everything goes back to normal with an X-Man from the future saving the day. But don't let that bring you down. This is one of the most original X-Men storyline during its day and age (well, until the 'Onslaught' series, anyway) and a must-read to all you mutant fanatics out there. It's a great ride, but not as relishing as you think it is.
