Overview

We feel peace in our life. We find this peace in happiness fed by human emotions such as love, but what becomes of us when it is shattered? Would we curse the heavens for our misfortunes if it struck down everything we held dear? What would sin become? Lance Monterro held his family. All was perfect, his heart at peace, but common problems began to eat away at his perfect life and violent circumstances tore down his life. Agony took hold of his life, his loved ones slaughtered, his body broken, he looked to Heaven. He looked to God and cursed Him. Given the chance he sold his soul for vengeance for the opportunity to share the pain he felt. He thought this would bring him peace. All he found were two worlds stuck in an endless war, neither dead nor alive. He is nothing but a symbol of torment. Dead is the man he was; now there is only the Gaden.

A poetic bloody symphony of violence!

Gaden is awesome and so are all the tools at his disposal, but why doesn't anyone give Vinny any love. I mean years after his brothers death he's still hunting down the killers. He's driven and he's complex and he speaks from his point of view. This gives the novel diffeent perspectives from different people. They dont describe things the same way and they act differently, Vinny's role is more modern, believable and applicable to reality. Gaden is dark, dreary, action filled fantasy. Vinny walks around in the newly molded New York wondering why dead bodies keep popping up. Gaden glides through it maiming all opposition till its faceless.

    A truly wonderful journey

From landscapes breath-taking in description in heaven to shady cold alley-ways and depraived villains I was entertained from the get. Some reviews said this book starts slow but some character development never hurt a book on my count. Realizing by books end that the story continues after this installment justifies it. Theres a bond between Lance and his brothers, they're brothers. Then a love between Lance and Veronica that I think comes across strongly as Gadens driving force throughout the book. There are fantastic things Gaden is a hooded contract killer' his cloak called sheik is a living breathing entity and it carries knowledge, skill and memory of all who have worn it. Then he has a blade called Man-eater' I'll say it again Man-eater'-lol- whom talks to him I think mentally but I am not sure. This thing can become anything he can conjure in his mind, anything.

This is very imaginative, it's just fun-I feel 14 again reading it....

    A fascinating first chapter

I'll clear up the skinny on this X-sevious Gaden book.
At certain point the writing lacks the seasoned spices serious readers are customed too, but for the most part I believe the author shines more then he fades. In the end the story is just good. The pages become better as you move through the novel.

Lance as Gaden is an unlikely Hero who has no interest in the title, he's mean, arrogant, spiteful and more evil then good. This makes him interesting, a worthwhile investment if you will. On the otherside his brother Vinny is complex working as a detective and raising his niece aka Gaden daughter.

Es otra cosa "really something else"

This story just keeps my interest andin the end books are suppsoed to do that or they're a bust. Gaden was just a normal guy from New England witha beautiful family and go figure he moves to New york and his life goes to the crapper. To be discrete I'll just say bad things happen-and all the sudden he's the hooded avenger a likeness to death himself. All tacky condentations aside it works and his maner of speaking at times is wise, poetic and captivating and at other times he is just a guy from boston.

Nice action and drama it just works...

This book is way to cool'one sick twisted talented mind wound this up

I will never forget the solace days. How could I know that the darkness waited to envelop my tranquility.

The blade wielding trubador sings a tune of death and it's glorious fun. Great action, and memorable dialouge. I love the way they talk it's like they always mean something deeper. There is a manyt hings going on below the surface in this tale.

The man in the purple coat wore a hat.

I'm still trying to figure that one out, but good stuff, love the ending that doesn't end-book 2?

This young man is something else

I think Samuel caraballo should be given a closer look if not for writing style at least for wonderful creative story telling and imagination. Keep at it young man your story is evil and beautiful. Its sad and yet happy in a way. A Man gives up life for honor more then vengence. What would you do if someone murdered your wife/husband, your daughter/son, brother/sister?

If you could get your hands on those sick people and make them feel as your loved ones did would you?

Bravo young man, I believe you will get recognition down the road, aspire for great things and finish this story if not for anyone else just for me Miss Daisy. I want a book 2,3,4 etc.

    Definitely worth it

This things gets awesome 70 pages in, battles and dialouge in all. Weird things start happening and cool powers evolve. I attribute the slow start to trying to get across the bond of love between Lance and Veronica.

The first chapter should have been shorter, but i get it

Too many novels just jump into it try to make it up along the way. not here I get the time spent on the family, their bond. The moments with his wife and child. I think its necessary to have that picture of Lance before he is just Gaden.

Once chapter 2 kicks off the book picks up its speed, its riveting, evolving in style, suspense and substance.

    Bloody disgusting, Bloody thrilling

In one foul swoop, he swung his sickle slicing my chest open. I screamed in agony. Blood splattered every-thing surrounding me as my flesh hung off my body and I saw my heart floating way into the hands of this thing. He took out a silver jar and now the sickle was gone and the staff was once again visible he seemed to be blessing my heart and absorbing my soul..

Skip the bull this about poetic violent destruction

No one does it etter then heavens assasin the Gaden he's even half puerto rican/italian like yours truly. This guy can do anything he has limitless strength, there are terrorist attacks, wars, demons, beast, magic, and mucho blood i mean mucho blood. It never stops and when he kills you a number is burnt on your forehead to signify what number victim you are. At one point he gets jumped by thousands of hungry beast that roam the highway a chaotic play on purgatory and they try to eat him he uses his power/energy to kill'em all and they all have marked heads. The lasy one like 2147 or something; so cool. I lvoe this book, buy it read it, borrow it something.

A few mistakes typo wise but they dont affect nada, great

    Let's just have some fun

So through they eyes of the dead you see new life. A paradise in heaven a chaotic everchanging world in the highway between damnation and salvation. Numerous creatures never imagined before in any folklore. All mixed in with the bible's book of daniel and revelations, but why mix something so sacred to so many with a fanatsy novel filled with such careless obscene violence? To tell a fantastic story. This Caraballo has quite the imagination I imagine him somewhat like a child in ways.So in touch with the other-wordly, the breath taking, that thing that awes. He himself must hold firm belief in something within the bible to even right a novel so closely wrapped around its tellings.

There's nothing wrong here or irresponsible taken for what it is this is a great tale of wonder. With as much blood as a kill-bill movie, and more decapatations then Braveheart.

Lokk I'm 38 years old and Gaden is the coolest character ever. He excites me.

If this continues it could be something else.........

I think this is a great story by a growing talent a writer still evolving but rough around the edges.

Lance has a wife and two children and two brothers, maybe more but they arent really spoken of.

Tragedies become both of them through thrilling events.
Same for his wife and children obvious enough THUS HE IS BORN.

A hooded assasin for heaven who loathes god, I mean really hates him. No need to be offended Jesus and god have different roles in this tale. As does Satan who handsomly enough is called Luc. Treachorous highways between worlds, talking weapons, demons, beast, marks appearing on fallen foes, this is nice.

I will always love this guy'Gaden is a Rockstar

This book only begins after the main character dies. In death he finds a new life a dead one still. He can read souls and carries memories and pains of thousands who were like him. He jumps from rooftops and walks alleyways cutting down his tormenters. Basicallly by using the opportunity for revenge he is bound to heavens services, but he being woo'd if you will by satan. There not enough in the novel about the bad guy this Kento seems overpowering and scary but he is overly absent. Gaden does kill them all and its sweet and nasty and gross. Its gets better and should have been a little longer come on book 2.

"HE JUMPS OFF HEAVEN AND TEARS THROUGH HELL"

    I am so a fan Mr.Carballo

A man his family his dysfunctional family at that. A great glimpse at multi-racial family relation italian/puerto rican. Maybe even some new england bostonian stereOTYPES. Lance has a baby girl then a boy. Starts having neard eath experiences seems to be losing his mind voices in bathroom stalls at hopitals and all. He'surroudned bby tragedy and eathlike hes being called to this life of gloom. When his family is killed then for reasons unknown hes lifted to the heavens after cursing god and maimed by a sickle "open heart surgery"

When he becomes Gaden in the chamber he changed. Thisd is wear the book gets real good cuz its inventive different. The author is new to this but he is able to carry the story well and gain more skill with managing the word play. Gaden is heaven and hell embodiment of both demon/angel. Good/evil. Sinner/saint.The creatures he fights are creative and fun. The battles are gruesome but cool. Theres a hint of mange type anime inspiring the fights. This book is good, give it a shot read twice you'll love it.
