Overview

GOODREADS: "A spellbinding masterwork. A sizzling romance. A totally original world of dazzling imagery."

GOODREADS: "The most awesome read ever. An incredible experience. The breakneck plot blew me away. I loved this book!"

Having lost the love of her life, nineteen year old Charlize Sweet gives up on guys forever. Then she stumbles into the dark, brooding arms of Xanzeer, a genie. Inexplicably drawn to this hotter than fire bad-boy, she’s soon combating his evil Ex, inescapable dark forces and a fiery netherworld where wishes end and reality begins.

A head reeling paranormal romance, the Xanzeer series perfectly captures the quandary of a normal girl trapped in an upended world of a genie who's not your mother's superhero.

Xanzeer has mild language and mild sexual situations. Recommended for readers Grade 9 and up. Marja was nominated for the Pushcart Prize in long fiction.

OPRAH'S Book Club author, Jacquelyn Mitchard, gave advance praise for Marja's previous book, paranormal teen vampire romance HYPNOTIC.

A SIDE SPLITTING FUN ROLLER COASTER BARGAIN!

I would've gladly paid twenty times what this book cost me. Totally stunned, it's chock full of fun and good natured magic. Xanzeer transported me to another world, and I needed it, bad.

Charlize and Xanzeer's love story, though ultimately fun, was even sad at times. This book had it all. Laughs. Tears. Hand wringing terror aboard the Ghost Ship.

Best over the top Fairy tale I'd ever read for teens. When it's a movie, it'll be one I watch over and over again. The twists and turns absolutely sending roller coaster chills over me all over again!

    A MUST READ!!!!!!

    THE MOST SPELLBINDING READ EVER!

From the first page, I lost myself in Xanzeer. It was the most fantastic voyage I'd ever been on! This author's written a truly magnificent piece of artwork here. Little wonder she'd been nominated for a book award once. The plot to Xanzeer was a rich tapestry rivaling the best of any Potter. The imagination that it took to write what happened in the Treasure Room alone, I'd have paid twenty times more for. Not only was there unimaginable magic to this story, the romance between Xanzeer and Charlize was like nothing I'd ever read before. Their having lost each other was so absolutely gut wrenching, so beautifully captured with words, that their hard journey back to each others arms will no doubt enter into literary history. Mark my word. But for all the tragedy here, there were funny parts too that uplifted your spirit all over again. Reading this book, I go so absorbed in the unforgettable characters of the Captain, his daughter and Genie that I forgot I had my own life to lead. The dog got left outside. The iron got left on. Stuff burnt in the oven. The phone rang and rang. The way they all talked too, they jumped right off the page and into your life. I'll stay shaky and won't be able to manage until I read the next one. Literally, if you only read one book this year, make it Xanzeer. You'll come away reeling.

    GAG! Dont waste your money

Its a good thing this was only 99 cents. Save your money. You can buy better books with a dollar. I was so confused in the intro and I literally fell asleep from the bland and flat writting! If you like boring, pathetic books then this is your cup of tea.

    A MUST READ!!!

Xanzeer was such a fun escape from reality, I forgot all my own problems as I read it. Get ready to enter a world where anything is possible. This Marja is a master storyteller to accomplish that feat. And Charlize and Xanzeer are sure to go down in literature as one of the all time greatest romantic couples ever written. Yes, they're that special and singular.

Ghost Ship of the Living Dead was one of those rare finds that takes your breath away. There is literally nothing like it out there in paranormal. It has such goodness about it and the romance was extraordinary.

I also loved those zinger jokes that crept up once in a while that knocked you off your chair. I honestly cannot say enough about this book. It took a lot of imagination to write it and I wish I could write a review that's up to the standard of this book.

Xanzeer, we need a lot of sequels! Thank you Marja for a book this absolutely astounding and enjoyable. I love it when I take a chance on a new author and find that glistening gem that rises to the top. And Xanzeer certainly did for me.

    SMOKIN'

Okay, so I'm a ravenous fan now of Marja. I was waiting for something else to come on of hers. And I pounced.

If Xanzeer, Mr. Hot Guy, doesn't make you sit up and pay attention, nothing will. And how Charlize tamed him and came into her own power, well, I have never read a love story more searing and magical than this before. Not to mention this was knock dead funny in a lot of places. I'd read it in one day because I could literally not stop myself. You'll have alot of fun with this one. I did. More Xanzeer please!

    Disappointing

I could not read half the book because it did not fit on the nook or nook app no matter what setting used.

This made the already choppy storytelling harder to follow. I liked the premise even liked the events/scenes throughout the book. However, bringing it together left a lot to be desired.

I spent the previous three years scene wondering about everything. For example, how does a senior pull off transfering high school and they didn't move? Maybe that was in the section i could not read.

I cannot believe anyone gave this book 5 stars. I don't even want to give it one star but i cannot leave a comment without a rating.

    Hard to follow

First, I couldnt read half the book due to it being cut off, which is a problem with the ebook, which made it hard to follow when you can only read every third page. I think the startof the book was rushed, for a while i couldnt even make sense of what was going on or how we got to that point. Once i was about halfway through i was finally semi interested.

It has no flow and the writing is awful. From the mixed up storyline to
the stunted interaction of the characters, it was a mess. Was this
supposed to take place in the future, the present or the past? Out of
the several hundred books I have read, in the past two years, this is
    one of the worst.

    Not For Me

I’m sorry to say that I didn’t really care for this novel, which is unfortunate because it had such a good premise (though a bit flawed), an intriguing title, and a great cover. The story itself, however, was a bit lacking. I just felt like the story wasn’t tied together very well. I spent much of the beginning of this novel thoroughly confused as it moved too fast with little-to-no explanation. Then it abruptly jumped ahead 3 years, and 50% into the novel, I was still trying to connect all the dots, which isn’t how I like to spend my reading time. I just felt like the plot jumped around a lot, with way too much action intertwined and overshadowing the meat of the story.

Likewise, I found the story to be predictable. That’s not always a bad thing, but I was hoping I’d be wrong on occasion. As soon as we met Xanzeer, I had a sneaking suspicion who he was in relation to the story, and it turns out I was right. I was hoping there would be a twist of some sort within the novel, but things unfolded basically the way I thought they would, and while Xanzeer was an interesting character, I never felt any endearment or connection to him or any of the other characters. I felt like Healy really wanted to shroud all her characters in mystery, which she did well, but in the end, I think that made them too difficult for me to really to get to know. But out of all of them, I really hated Jesse. He was an extremely annoying character that Charlize needed to kick to the curb. I couldn’t find one endearing thing about him as I read, and that irked me since he was in much of the novel. He’s a bungling idiot who believes he is better than, and can boss around, women, and I really had a hard time with him.

But the cool thing, characters aside, is that this novel deals with genies. Yep, like the one in Aladdin. This really piqued my interest once I realized what was going on, and I wish there had been more explanation of the genies and their magic instead of some of the running around that went on in the novel, but perhaps we’ll learn more in the next installment of this series. I honestly haven’t decided if I’m going to read the next book as I wasn’t too impressed with the storyline of the first, but I’m dying to know more about the genies, so I probably will check it out.
