Overview

According to the Scriptures, ELOHIM's nature is that of a consuming fire. Right from the start, the reader will visit the scriptures as the true nature of YAHUAH is shown; for example, Exodus 13:21 says, "21 And YAHUAH went before them by day in a pillar of a cloud, to lead them the way; and by night in a pillar of fire, to give them light; to go by day and night."
Fire is very intense, freighting on the one hand and very attractive on the other. People are drawn to fire. But why is ELOHIM compared to fire in the scriptures?
In Genesis 15, He appears as a blazing lamp, and in Exodus 13, He appears as a burning bush. When we read Exodus 19:24, we see YAHUAH on Mount Sinai appearing as a consuming fire, devouring fire.
Also, in Exodus 40, by day, a pillar of a cloud of smoke, and by night, a pillar of fire over the Tabernacle.
Why fire?
Leviticus 9 and 10 tell us how YAHUAH consumes the sacrifices with fire and Arron's disobedient sons with fire.

Then in Deuteronomy 4:24, YAHUAH is actually called the devouring fire/consuming fire, and that is also quoted in Hebrews 12:28-29 which says, "28 Wherefore we receiving a kingdom which cannot be moved, let us have grace, whereby we may serve ELOHIM acceptably with reverence and godly fear: 29 For our ELOHIM is a consuming fire."

We see the same picture of YAHUAH in the New Testament, which says, "29 For our YAHUAH is a consuming fire."

Why this association with fire?

In Judges, YAHUAH appears in a fire as the "fire of sacrifices," in 1st Kings 18:24, Elijah prays, "24 And call ye on the name of your gods, and I will call on the name of YAHUAH: and the ELOHIM that answereth by fire, let him be ELOHIM. And all the people answered and said, It is well spoken."
In the Book of Ezekiel 1:4, we see YAHUAH appears, and there are chariots of fire; it reads, "4... a whirlwind came out of the north, a great cloud, and a fire infolding itself, and a brightness was about it, and out of the midst thereof as the colour of amber, out of the midst of the fire."
While in Ezekiel 8:2, the hand of ELOHIM fell upon him, and it reads, "2 Then I beheld, and lo a likeness as the appearance of fire: from the appearance of his loins even downward, fire; and from his loins even upward, as the appearance of brightness, as the colour of amber."
Daniel 7:10 speaks of a river of fire that goes out from before ELOHIM.
Malachi 3:3 likened YAHUAH to a refiner's fire. John the Baptist speaks of the "Ruach Ha'Kodesh (Holy Spirit)" and fire.
Matthew 3:11 speaks of baptism with fire, as well as Luke 12:49. YAHUSHUA says, "49...I have come to bring fire on the Earth...." 2nd Thessalonians 1:8 tells us, He comes in flaming fire.
We read in Revelation 1:4 there are seven Spirits; the seven-fold Spirit, before YAHUAH, is represented by seven flames. Why?

There are several things about fire;.

1. It speaks of purity; the refining away of sin.

2. The fire speaks of the passion of YAHUAH's love and purpose.

Still another thing about fire is it spreads and multiplies, and whatever you put into a fire - for example, a log - becomes fire. That is why the Prophet Jeremiah spoke with the word, but he tried to hold it back. Read Jeremiah 20:9, which says, "Then I said, I will not make mention of him, nor speak any more in his name. But his word was in mine heart as a burning fire shut up in my bones, and I was weary with forbearing, and I could not stay."

We encourage you to know YAHUAH as a consuming fire, a refiner's fire. It is terrible on the flesh; it is wonderful for the Spirit, and we are a nation of that Spirit.

About the Author

Unknown Hebrew is a Forth Tribe tried and true Hebrew Israelite. Like many of us, I started in the halls of Christian doctrine; however, my desire to learn more about the script increased, and I was led back to where it all began — the Hebrew Israelite Nation.
Since then, I have not looked back; every day, I study, write, and read the word; while asking for understanding.
Some wonder why I go by the pin name; Unknown Hebrew; for me, it is a way to keep the spotlight off me and on YAHUAH, our ELOHIM.

Here is what YAHUAH wants us to achieve while on Earth.

Read the scriptures to understand the ways of our ELOHIM.

Study to show yourself approved.

Take on the ways of the Order of Melchizedek.

Spread the gospel to Israelites worldwide.

Wait for our King and High Priest YAHUSHUA to return.
