La mitad de los 62 militares españoles muertos, que regresaban de una misión humanitaria en Afganistán y Kirguizistán, no fueron identificados por el Gobierno de José María Aznar, que se apresuró a entregar los cuerpos por miedo al escándalo. Las familias de las víctimas se rebelaron contra la injusticia desde el mismo 26 de mayo de 2003. Se asociaron y batallaron con sus armas contra el Ministerio de Defensa en busca de la verdad. El tiempo les ha dado la razón. Treinta fallecidos van a tener que ser exhumados, aunque ocho de ellos fueron incinerados, para que sus deudos sepan a quién rezan. La Audiencia Nacional ha tardado más de un año en abrir diligencias penales por el accidente y los errores de identificación. De nada sirvió la presión de España sobre Turquía para que ocultara la realidad. Primero se demostró que un piloto del avión ucraniano dio positivo el control de alcoholemia; luego que el avión no sabía dónde estaba cuando se estrelló contra una montaña tras fallar el aterrizaje en el aeropuerto de Trabzon, a orillas del Mar Negro; más tarde se supo que Defensa había recibido catorce quejas de los soldados sobre el estado de estos aparatos a las que no hizo el menor caso... Los familiares llegaron a manifestarse ante el Ministerio y su pelea está teniendo su fruto. Ahora saben la verdad, aunque la verdad del Yak-42 es muy amarga. Yak-42, honor y verdad es la crónica del peor año y medio de sus vidas. Ramón J.
