Yale Recordings, Vol. 4: Big Band Recordings

Editorial Reviews

All Music Guide - Scott Yanow
This fourth volume of material culled from the tapes willed by Benny Goodman to The Yale University Music Library contains a variety of big-band performances taken from no less than five different sessions held over an eight-year period. Such musicians as baritonist Pepper Adams, Bob Wilber on tenor, Zoot Sims and BG's former vocalist Martha Tilton get their spots. While several Eddie Sauter arrangements are performed, one has to also sit through a weak 1964 session that includes a forgettable version of "People." An interesting if somewhat erratic set.
