Yam is a spirited cherub of a boy dressed in a charming head-to-toe jumpsuit. He and his quirky friends cavort around the tropical island of Leche de la Luna, having surreal adventures involving friendly cupcakes, tambourine-shaking flowers, and magic potions. The wordless panels are quite effective with the tenderly drawn art powerfully conveying nuanced moments. A solid addition to any graphic novel collection.-Lauren Anduri, Brooklyn Public Library, NY

When the Africans (free or captive) came to America, they looked for yams which were a food staple and native only to tropical climates. Instead what they found Sweet Potatoes. Choosing the juicy one they added butter, sugar or honey, thus the expression to " Yam it up." This Yam is the real one. Corey Barba's YAM : Bite Size Chunks is a big imaginative head delight. Filled with joy and play to keep a young one busy for an afternoon. Was this review helpful? Yes NoThank you for your feedback. Report this reviewThank you, this review has been flagged.
