Editorial Reviews

Doody's Review Service
Reviewer: Regina Rosa Lopez, MD (University of Illinois at Chicago College of Medicine)
Description: This annual provides abstracts of articles in the field that have been published in the professional literature in recent years along with commentary from the editors on their personal opinions regarding these articles.
Purpose: The purpose of the book is to serve as a literature survey in order to be implemented as a reference tool. These objectives are worthy in that they narrow the literature search, and thereby conserve the reader's time. In my view the objectives were met.
Audience: The targeted audience are those in the field of psychiatry and mental health. The editors are professors of psychiatry with additional credentials.
Features: The targeted audience are those in the field of psychiatry and mental health. The editors are professors of psychiatry with additional credentials.
Assessment: The organization is the best aspect of this book. The unique feature is the editorial commentary. On the other hand, the book is representative of only a fraction of the articles surveyed. Also, the title is misleading in that a majority of the articles were published in 2001.
