Yellow Sun, Blue Moon: A Passionate Poetic Journey of Hope, Connection and Love

by Barry Siegel

I'm pieces of heart... strung together with compassion
and scattered with fear, a thousand tears apart.
Pieces of heart, in my loins, in my throat.
Pieces of heart that scream of loss.
Pieces of heart that keep me afloat.

I'm pieces of heart wearied from depression.
Pieces of heart soothed by confession.
Pieces of heart embedded in stone

Overview

I'm pieces of heart... strung together with compassion
and scattered with fear, a thousand tears apart.
Pieces of heart, in my loins, in my throat.
Pieces of heart that scream of loss.
Pieces of heart that keep me afloat.

I'm pieces of heart wearied from depression.
Pieces of heart soothed by confession.
Pieces of heart embedded in stone.
Pieces of heart dazzled and glittered,
sometimes battered and bruised.
Pieces of heart worn and weathered;
then, sometimes tickled and amused.

Pieces of heart before, now, later... fragments of a crater.
Pieces of heart, of science, of will, of space, of art.
I'm pieces of heart like a warm fall breeze.
Pieces of heart like the driving rain.
Pieces of heart like a whispered sigh.
Pieces of heart to comfort my pain.

I'm pieces of heart, reaching out, gathering in.
Pieces of heart, lose, tie or win.
Pieces of heart in anger, rage and calm.
I'm pieces of heart, the lines on my palm.
Pieces of heart worn on my sleeve,
wrapped in rust around the many moments I grieve.

Pieces of heart... big, bold and true;
each color, each tone, each shadow, each hue.
Pieces of heart inside and out.
Pieces of heart, my reasons no doubt.
I'm pieces of heart as I tremble and weep,
I'm pieces of heart to the core, past the deep.
Pieces of heart when my eyes need to clear.
Pieces of heart as I hold you near.

Pieces of heart as I walk on sacred ground.
Pieces of heart all splintered, yet bound.
Pieces of heart without any sound;
often lost, yet grateful when found.
Pieces of heart by the inch, by the pound,
singing and dancing, around and around.
Pieces of heart with passion and prose.
Pieces of heart with the grace of a rose.

Reflections at noon.
Mirrors at dark.
Stillness at midnight.
Prayers at dawn.
Pieces of heart... a speck of dust.
Almost never... almost gone.

Meet the Author

Barry lives in Evanston, IL with his wife, Sheila, two cats and a dog. A family man, a good man, a man of purpose and heart; Barry lingers in his pleasures and indulges in his passions. When not writing poetry, his free time is spent volunteering, playing racquetball, watching movies, and listening to loud rock and roll.

This, Barry's second book of poetry, is a celebration of his love for Sheila. Tracing their relationship, Barry speaks of the chances we take, the fears we conquer and the struggles we overcome in order to find, embrace and keep love in the moment.
