The cover graphics imply a brash book, but the contents have nuance and subtle grace. The book bills Tufankjian only as the photographer-and her photographs are wonderful. With as many character shots of spectators as of the man himself, with framing and depth of field choices that are eloquent without being pretentious, she captures mood and atmosphere with seeming ease. But it is her brief autobiographical text at the start of each chronological section that additionally sets the book apart, allowing the reader to feel in the midst of the press corps as it followed Obama around the country. A tribute not only to Obama, with some pull quotes from his speeches, but to Tufankjian's skills with her Nikon.

    Yes We Can by Scout Tufankjian

    I was disappointed by this Book. Although it was more expensive than my other purchases which paid tribute to President Obama's historic campaign, I gave it away to a friend. To me the book looked poorly planned, poorly laid out and, most of the pictures taken were not that good. The author got more exposure than any other chronicler of Obama's campaign and, did the worst job in my opinion.

    Yes You Will like this book.

    I saw Scout (the photographer/author) interviewed on the Charlie Rose show and was very impressed with her story and went right out and purchased the book. I am very pleased with it. She has traveled the world photographing current events and she was with the Obama campaign from the beginning.

    The historic campaign story from the street level

    While this can be seen as merely yet another coffee table picture book, if one takes a closer look, there's a lot of the heart of America being shown inside. What makes Scout Tufankjian's work here so interesting is that she has intimately captured the anxieties and excitement of a nation's people seeking to reclaim their country, through the one man who ran for president on the theme of positive change. There are lots of books which feature pictures of Barack Obama, but few actually highlight the faces of those who got him where he is today.

    Not just Obama

    There are thousands of photos of Obama and this book has many wonderful ones. What makes this book so interesting is the faces of the people who are watching him. More than anything they show how powerful and inspiring he is and also how desperately people saw him as a force for change. The children's faces are the most moving. It is also terrific to find a photographer who is also so articulate. Her descriptions of the background of the photos are illuminating.
