An irresistible tale of love and passion in the post-Civil-War South from Dorothy Garlock, the award-winning, bestselling author of A Gentle Giving and Sins of Summer. Addie waited four long years for her husband to return from the Civil War, but to no avail. Now deserters and drifters are making her life dangerous . . . until a mysterious stranger shows up to protect her and her children. Original.

This has been my favorite oF all her novels. I like the way she brings in a person who was in a past novel. Do not know if it was the publisher or D. Garlock's decision to go to contemporary type novels. I preferred the historicals.
