Overview

Rose Golightly accompanies her family on a visit to their cousins in Yorkshire, she finds a run down house, not the society gathering she and her sister are hoping for. Lord Hareton has deliberately run down the once great Hareton Abbey until it's a near ruin. The only other guests at Hareton are the twin Kerre brothers, intimidating and haughty leaders of society, together with the fiance of the older brother. When the Earl of Southwood's son and heir, Richard, Lord Strang is badly injured in the same accident that kills her cousins, Rose is forced into the position of nurseā€”and detective. The attraction between Richard and Rose is instant and undeniable, but Richard is to marry the frigid Julia Cartwright in a few weeks, and has deliberately closed his heart to love. In order to offer Rose his heart he must extricate himself from an engagement he has long come to regret. When they discover that what at first appeared accidental was in fact a deliberate act of sabotage Richard and Rose set out to solve the mystery. Can Rose trust her instincts, ignoring Richard's reputation as a seducer and give him everything she has to offer? Can they clear Rose's family name by discovering her cousins' murderer?

    Sex

No plot, just a book of sex disguised as historical fiction or whatnot.

I enjoyed this historical romance quite a bit, though I was taken aback to see that it was written in 1st person. The author carried the 1st person perspective off better than I expected. Looking forward to the next book in the series.

Truly felt I was there watching the story unfold. Like another reviewer, I got sick of the author stating how beautiful the sister was, but that was my only problem with the story. The sex isn't much, and not explicit as in some books. I will the next book of the series. I wish the author or publisher offered this series as a bundle. I think there are 8 books to this series and at $4.99 each, a little steep for me. I do believe in love at first sight, so that part of the story was convincing for me. Had some twists I didn't see coming and a lot of suspense. I would recommend this book. Over 600 Nook pages. (ljb)

A first person voice. I love those kinds of stories, especially when they are well written, and this is a very well written novel. Highly rec. Got the next one and am in the middle of it. Looks like I will be reading for a while, given that there are eight books in this series. Yay!

    Boring.

400 pages in and this book is still incredibly boring. I'm going to stop reading it. This never happens. I'm very easy to please when it comes to books, so it's saying a lot I'm deleting it.

    good so far

I'm about 200 pages into this book, having started it last night. It's getting involved and more & more interesting. It's 600+ pages & so it's starting to build the characters. Promises to be a winner.

I really liked this book, the first in the series of Richard and Rose. You will find romance, intrigue, mystery, and deceit. There are quite a few pages, 600 some .I also bought the next two of the series. Richard is engaged to a beautiful princess type lady, too good to get her hands dirty. Rose has been looked over when she had her coming out at 16. She is now in her 20's and not afraid of helping or doing anything. She has never been in loved and enjoyed her singlesness until she met a man in a wrecked carriage. There is some expressive sex scenes in the book, but there is a good story besides the sex. It is well worth your read.
