Children's LiteratureThis "You and Me" entry in the "Read and Learn" series uses a clever alphabet format to explore the many everyday jobs, words, and actions children can use to make the world a more pleasant place. "M is for Meet and N is for New Friend," is one of several pages that feature two concepts. Other ideas presented include that each person is an "Individual," we try not to "Judge" people, try to show "Kindness," and "Listen" to learn new things. Photograph selections include many pictures from other books in the series and show a wonderful diversity of people. An ending quiz, a picture glossary, and a small index help readers become familiar with nonfiction text and some of its conventions. In addition, the layout of the text encourages new readers to tackle the books in this nicely done series with real success. 2004, Heinemann Library, Ages 3 to 6.
