The book called YOU ARE SPECIAL by Max Lucado is my childhood favorite. I loved this book, and still do. It is a heart warming book with a strong moral saying that it does not matter what people say or think about you, it only matters what you think. YOU ARE SPECIAL is a must-read for anyone of any age. It is a book that I will read to my children.

You are Special by Max Lucado is such a wonderful book that I enjoy reading over and over again. Punchinello is upset because he can't do anything the other Wemmicks can do like jump high or run really fast, he is always messing up and instead of getting a gold star like everyone else he keeps getting gray dots for all his failures. Its a great book that shows young children that you are so much more valuable and precious then you think you are and you shouldn't worry what others think about you. Its a truly inspiring story that plucks are your heart strings and reminds us that our true value comes from the One who made us because He doesn't make mistakes.

This is one of my favorite stories about how much we mean individually to God. I wanted this book to share with my daughter, but didn't want it to be easily destroyed (she's 2). I was so happy when I found this in board book. It's not missing any of the text like sometimes has to be done when converting stories to board book for children. It's sturdy and we can both enjoy it!

I have used this as a counselor with children but also with those who struggle (all of us) with their identity..especially in God's eyes. Healing of the body, mind, soul, and spirit.

This book provides an excellent illustration of how God made us special and we should embrace our differences because He loves us just the way we are. It explains in a simple manner not to succumb to peer pressure or feel inadequate because you do not look or have abilities like someone else. I loved it so much that I bought a book for each of my girls because this is a life lesson they will need to be reminded of throughout their lives.

I received this book as a baby gift for my 2nd child. When I first started reading it, I wasn't too sure about it, but, by the time I got to the end of the book, I was awe-struck. I have started giving this book to friends when they have babies. It's a great book!

I'm from Brazil, and since the first time i read this book, I would recommend to everybody! Once I told the story to the Bible Study group in my church, and there were people from 15 years old until 75 years old; all of them just loved.:)

This book is great for kids and adults. We read it to our daughter often to remind her that she is made just the way God intended.

I performed this book as a one man play for my oral interpretation class in college. I cried when I first read it as I struggled at the time with my self-worth. God used this book to change my life and perspective about myself.

When I first heard the story in this book I was so overwhelmed about the love that God has for me and how he thinks of me. Kids and adults are sure to enjoy the message Max conveys in this story.

I read this book over 5 years ago and apply it to my life every day! I have a step daughter who is at an age where she doesn't feel good about herself. I will read this book to her again and again! It has changed my life!

I used to read this book to my campers when I was a counselor at a Christian summer camp. The message is that our creator, God, loves us for who we are - he made us who we are. Whenever we feel inadequate in this world, all we need to do is remember God's love for us. When we do that all those negative things that people see about us and even those that we have started to believe ourselves will disappear. This story is included in Lucado's book, The Book of Secrets. This excerpt from that book is enhanced by Martinez's wonderful illustrations. Why 5 stars?: This book is wonderfully written and illustrated. The message is one that all children (and adults) need to remember. God is able to see past what others do. He looks not only at our surface, but what is inside. He made us the way we are for a reason and he loves us because we are all so different.

I am in a City College. A teacher came in and read this book to the entire class and I could not stop myself from crying because I could relate so much to the story. It helped me see my way through alot of lifes set backs. I will purchase this book today for my little three year old.

Absolutely wonderful book. Great gift for a child. The first time I read it to my daughter I was actually choked up. It's basis is on being judged by others and the hurt that sometimes goes with it. They are puppets and the main character meets his 'maker' and the reference is to a 'God' telling the puppet what others think doesn't matter, only what the 'maker' thinks. Very sweet book.

I recommend this book to anyone who is trying to help their children become more confident in the Lord.

This story comes from a Christian point of view, but the message is universal. If you allow yourself to be flattered by other people or if you allow yourself to be brought down by the negativity of other people, you really need to stop and remember that your worth does not come from the opinions of others.

A beautifully written story about self esteem and our value in life. There is a foster agency who gives this and a blanket to new kids into their foster program. I give this to my friends at baby showers. It is also great reminder to adults of who determines our worth and the power we give to others to influence how we see ourselves.

One of my favorite children's book of all time. This story is adorable and has a strong message that it doesn't matter what other people think of you as long as you are happy with the person you are. I love the metaphor that Christ is the artist who created us and loves us no matter what. 5-star recommendation for any age!

Touching This book as served to touch and inspire me throughout the years. It has provided a strong reminder that we need not compare ourselves to others or worry about what other people think. What matters is that we have a Maker who thinks we are very special. As we learn to view ourselves as He does we will find greater joy and peace in life. This book is particularly helpful for children, and even adolescents, who struggle with self-esteem.
