i you want to be healthy

I know this book might not sound practical for people who are meat eaters. but if you are unhealthy and need to get on the right track she is the best person for it. I have dish network and get BBC and her show comes on everyday. It isn't a diet but a way of realizing how food really and truly effects you. I love this book. It is very colorful and extremely helpful in gaining knowledge about food.

    Excellent!

I'm a huge fan of BBC's "What Not To Eat" so I was especially excited to see Gillian had books available here in the US. This is a beautiful, easy to understand book about what we should eat and why. It also has a section of self-checks to find out what you may be deficient in (cracks on corners of mouth, lines on tongue, etc.) that she uses on her TV show. I am also happy to recommend this because it is so resonably priced.

    Totally changed my eating habits

This book is great, i love it for the simplicity of the information provided, the color graphics to keep it interesting and the just the level of stuff provided. I love Dr McKeith, she talks about common ailments and how our food integration and ingestion makes such a big difference. I have recommended to all my friends and my mom who took my book. I had to buy a new one but definitely a worthwhile investment. If you are looking for simple remedies to fix issues, this is the book for you.

    Fantastic Read!

Dr. Gillian McKeith is an extraordinary author who leaves out no details when it comes to your health and well being.
I've thoroughly enjoyed the book and all it has to offer. It contains information that will make you evaluate what you eat, when you eat it, and how it is absorbed and disposed of from the body.
I would consider myself a very health conscious person, and this book certainly makes me think twice about the foods I put in my mouth.
Way to go Gillian! There needs to be more books like yours on shelves across the globe!! :-)

Get rid of the sludge-y feeling

I am a big fan of the You Are What You Eat BBC America show. The Gillian in this book is much softer and reasonable (and doesn't snoop in your pantry.) I picked up this book because I did rely on take-out and processed food. But I followed her recipes for a week (she recommends 8) and I saw a huge difference in my energy levels. I'm taken a milder approach by incorporating these meals several times a week. I have found several new favorites in this book. I eat the aduki bean stew or mung bean casserole weekly. And my while take-out menus have been gathering dust, I've lost 4 inches from my waist.

    A good "how to" book.

This book is very well laid out in a "cookbook" fashion, meaning it lists ingredients and then how to "cook" them. It is simply written so that one does not get bored with the contents. It is especially informative as far as natural herbs are used and food combinations. There are many simple recipes at the back also.

This is a wonderful reference book to keep at hand and refer to it very frequently. I am only half way done reading it so far. There is much information to absorb.

    I Also Recommend:

    A Wealth of information

I love Gillian's basic premise. Though some of her idea's can be a bit overwhelming long term. Even if you can't do all or nothing, I think most anything you can learn from this book is helpful. She is basically preaching Macrobiotics, with a few modifications. I like her primitive health evaluation techniques, and have found most of them to be true. It can seem overwhelming at times, in which case I would have to recommend "Modern Day Macrobiotics" for a simpler approach. Gillian knows what she's talking about, but not everyone can live as hard-core as she does. Modern Day Macrobiotics is suited for everyone from a short detox to a complete lifestyle change (and everything in between). Gillian's book is aiming for that complete lifestyle change. I totally get what she's saying, but it's just not practical for everyone all the time. I would still recommend it though, because there is a lot of information in the book that can help everyone. We should all understand food, and how it affects our health. Even if you aren't looking for a lifestyle change, you can benefit from knowing more about food and how to use it to better your life.
