Overview

Baltimore city Homicide Detective J.D. Fitzpatrick has seen a lot of violence but nothing like the trail of tortured bodies that are turning up throughout the city. And now he's starting to suspect that his medical examiner, Dr. Lucy Trask, may be shielding a dark secret that could connect her to these vicious killings-and put her next on the killer's hit list...

Editorial Reviews

Publishers Weekly
When Baltimore medical examiner Lucy Trask finds herself at the center of a dizzying swirl of murders in Rose's turn-off-your-cellphone-settle-in-for-the-night page-turner, Trask turns to super-hunk Det. J.D. Fitzpatrick for counsel and protection. The only problem is that in order to get his help—and solve the murders—the reticent ME has to let loose some of her most private secrets. It doesn't matter that Fitzpatrick revs her engine anytime he's near. The good doctor has deep-seated trust issues, some that go back to the incident that may have inspired the current spate of mutilation murders committed by a demonic sadist who won't let go. But as bodies pile up in Trask's morgue, secrets are exposed in more ways than one. Rose (Silent Scream) doesn't allow her luxurious characterizations to get in the way of a wicked good plot that grabs hold and maintains tension from beginning to end. (June)

This is a strong police procedural

Early in the morning while singing along with ZZ Top, Baltimore medical examiner Dr. Lucy Trask jogs. She stops when she notices sexagenarian Mr. Pugh sitting by himself at a chess table. She assumes he wandered out of his apartment so she goes over to help him home only to find the Alzheimer's ailing man dead with his face gone. She calls 911; Baltimore PD Detectives J.D. Fitzpatrick and Stevie Mazzetti lead the inquiry. The shoes are wrong leading Trask to realize the victim is not Mr. Pugh.

The victim is identified as Christopher Jones due to cheek implants, but the cops find Jones alive. Lucy realizes the deceased is cosmetic surgeon Dr. Russ Bennett, who she has a history with. Soon other tortured dead are found, some of which the M.E. knows. Lucy wonders if the psychopath is tied to the decades old incident that left her distrusting people.

This is a strong police procedural with a deep cast starting with the beleaguered heroine, the cop who she likes but avoids and the amoral killer. Fast-paced with superb twists, readers will relish this terrific tale of an insane predatory killing machine lacking any societal restraints.

    Gripping, terrific read

This is the first of Karen Rose's books I have read. From page one to the end....I was drawn in. Read the entire book in one sitting. A definite page turner. I will read all of her books. Already preordered her next book coming out on June 5, 2012. Fantastic, edge of your seat thriller. A must read.

If your looking for a thriller you found it!

Karen Rose is a master at weaving psychological scares! I loved escaping away to her tale of thrilling, sexy, intrigue. I bumped all other books for hers at the time. The tale had me coming back for more whenever I had to leave it. Cannot wait for another page turner from her.

    Not to be Missed.

Ms. Rose's You Belong To Me is a masterful blend of suspense and romance. Detective J.D. Fitzpatrick and Dr. Lucy Trask play across the pages in symphonic perfection. The secondary characters of partners, family, and friends add rich, depth and texture to the story. You Belong To Me is Ms. Rose's best book to date.

    Suspense at its best

This was my first Karen Rose book, but definitely not my last. This was a true suspense book that kept me guessing until all of the clues were finally released. The chemistry between JD & Lucy was evident in their first meeting. The secondary characters were just as enjoyable to get to know as the main characters. I am completely intrigued with Thorne, and I sincerely hope he gets his own story, I would love to read about him more. The small town politics that played out in the book, were dead on. Being from a small town, it was like....justice. Lucy has several secrets in her past and her current life, I was pleasantly surprised at each turn of the page. I would recommend this to anyone who loves a good suspense murder mystery. In the comments at the end of the story, Ms. Rose mentions, this is the start of a new series...YAY!

    Another Pulse pounding Thriller

You Belong To Me by Karen Rose excels in making your pulse race and keeping your eyes wide open.

Dr. Lucy Trask is exceptional as a medical examiner. She thrives in the orderly world of death and its causes. Her orderly world is turned upside down when a brutal murder is literally dropped at her feet. At first she thinks its just a chance finding of the body but as more deaths start to pile up something in her past is connecting it all back to her. Lucy must put her trust in the detectives assigned to the case. Especially J.D. Fitzpatrick.

Detective J.D. Fitzpatrick hasn't been in the homicide unit all that long and is just getting his footing with his coworkers. He and his partner Stevie Mazzetti are assigned to the homicide that Dr. Trask stumbled upon during her morning jog. J.D. first meeting with Lucy has him feeling an attraction that he thought he would never feel again. But as the death toll climbs J.D. realizes the dancer is getting closer and closer to Lucy.

Lucy and J.D. joins forces to find the connection to these deaths and Lucy's youth. Someone is killing people that are connected to Lucy's hometown and Lucy's name just might be on that list. As the killer ups the game will J.D. and his partner be able to figure it out in time to safe Lucy and other victims?

You Belong To Me is riveting from page one. Karen Rose pulls you into the thoughts and feelings of all involved and keeps you on edge. The relationship between Lucy and J.D is emotionally packed as well. You will find yourself unable to put the book down until you are finished. Karen Rose books are tops on my list off books to read and to keep.

    ANOTHER CAN'T-PUT-IT-DOWN NOVEL BY ROSE

YOU BELONG TO ME is the newest novel (her 12th published) by world-wide best-selling author Karen Rose. In her latest thrilling novel, set in Baltimore, Rose takes her readers on a heart-stopping ride with Dr. Lucy Trask and detective J.D. Fitzpatrick. They are on the track of a sadistic killer, who is mysteriously entwined with Lucy's past and is slashing into her present life as well. Plot twists, a terrifying look into the mind of a devious killer, and a conclusion that left me gasping for breath, make this the most exciting Rose novel to date.
