Editorial Reviews

Children's Literature - Beverley Fahey
The popular Disney Playhouse Charlie and Lola program adds another lively title to its equally popular book series. Lola is very excited because Morten is coming over to play and she wants to dress-up and have a tea party. Morton, who is not a big talker according to his brother, does not like any of Lola's games and in spite of her animation he just stands there, staring. Over a snack of cookies and pink milk, Lola begins to blow bubbles and suddenly elicits giggles from Morten. Playing bubbles and a game of Round and Round are perfect for Lola and her new special friend. Children often have expectations when a friend comes to visit and the lesson that Lola learns not to script the day but let it evolve naturally will find its mark with readers. The lively text and equally lively mixed media and collage drawings add to the fun. Both text and illustrations are taken directly from television. Not a first purchase but a nice addition for kids who cannot get enough of Charlie and Lola. Reviewer: Beverley Fahey
