Editorial Reviews

Children's Literature - Kristin Harris
This is a very concise drawing guide for young children that is beautifully illustrated with colorful images. It is one of the publications in the eight part series "You Can Draw." Drawing requires few tools, at the least paper, pencils and an eraser. Markers, colored pencils and a ruler can come in handy. Young artists are advised that if they can write letters and numbers as well as make lines and shapes, they are all set to learn how to draw pets. Each spread includes a progression of diagrams demonstrating how to draw a particular animal. The first image in the series progressing from left to right is a simple geometric line drawing. Color is added to the shapes as the drawing becomes more complex and detail is added in six to eight steps. Dog Gone It! starts out as a square and in six steps becomes a spotted dog. There are twenty-five pets and assorted paraphernalia included. Who won't love Flashy Fish, Cat Burglar, Shaggy Pooch and Hungry Dog? Reviewer: Kristin Harris
