    Good baseball book

Ring Lardner does a fantastic job of showing us the baseball world and the American culture through this epistolary novel that covers two baseball seasons in the life of Jack Keefe. The letters are filled with baseball language (literal and metaphorical), misspellings and grammatical errors, and the flawed character traits that make up Jack Keefe. At first I felt a little sorry for Jack and his naivete, but then I realized Jack was an ignorant, stubborn, self-centered boob. He never learns from his mistakes (on the field or off the field). Yes, we know you Jack. Ring Lardner does an outstanding job of building Jack into a character. You Know Me Al is a must-have for baseball fans.
