Introduction
Welcome to Young Adult Ministry in the 21st Century: The Encyclopedia of Practical Ideas!

Just what are you? A single adult, a college student, someone embarking on a career, a 20-something? While young adults can feel lost in some churches, we believe that God passionately loves them and has an unbelievable purpose in mind for them. Young adults are energetic, passionate, compassionate, and resourceful people. And when they give themselves completely to God's service, watch out-something amazing will happen!

The ideas in this book will help you guide young adults to love God with their whole hearts, to love others with a strong and pure love, and to zealously serve the church and the world around them with an enthusiastic and self-sacrificing spirit. Within these pages, you'll find dozens and dozens of practical ideas that you can use with young adults. Best of all, you can use them today! These ideas are creative, practical, and hands-on. Whether you want to put together an activity to deepen your group's relationships, discuss the Christian themes in a secular movie, or dive in to a service project for the disadvantaged in your community, this book can help.

Because this book is a collection of practical ideas, we've worked hard to put it together in a practical way. Of course, you can read it cover to cover if you want. But it's designed as a reference tool. You might want to start in the Table of Contents, find an area of young adult ministry, and scan the tips and ideas from there.

Each section includes a list of leader tips to help you in that area of your ministry, a "Quick Study" Bible study and activity that will help youngadults understand the value of that area of ministry, and, of course, all kinds of practical ideas you can use today.

When using these pages, you may want to specifically put copies of them in the hands of your group members. Therefore, please note that several pages throughout this book have been noted as "OK to copy." (Look for the logo shown in the margin.) If there are other pages with ideas you would like to copy for use with your immediate small group, you may do so. However, if the leader of another group or class wants copies of those ideas, then that leader must purchase a copy of this book.

We pray that the young adults you serve will reap eternal benefits from the ideas in this book. May God bless and use you and your ministry.
