    Too americanized to be manga.

Chris tried writing a manga guide when he's a cartoonist... Sadly, it didn't turn out very well so this seems more like cartoons than manga.

Great for beginners who have absolutely no experiance.

To be honest,I'm going to go against the tide for a minute. I think that if you have no experience in manga illustration, this is the book to start with.I agree that the step-by-steps are pretty dorky, but it really had some good tips on hairstyle, proportions, and eyes(which I had really been struggling with). By no means should this be the only book in your manga how-to collection. But if you can get past the dorky designs, than you'll probably have at least some improvement in your manga skill after taking these lessons. However,do keep in mind that the book is for "young people". While some consider "young" to be ages 15-20,I think ages 8-12 were being considered here.

There is a fine line between Manga and Cartoons. While they do have similarities they are not the same so a cartoonist really doesn't have any buisness writing a book about Manga. I only recently started drawing Manga characters but mine are better than this crud. Hell this makes my friend Syd look like the Piccasso of Manga. In reality she is good but not quite a pro. Don't waste your money.

    Amateur

I have the actual hardcopy of this book and it isnt very helpful. It dosent really teach you to draw manga, it just shows you how to draw wrongly proportioned carbon copies of what the author has drawn. Younger kids might like itbut if you are more advanced artist this is absolutely not the book for you.
