Editorial Reviews

Children's Literature
On the first day of school Cam Jansen, her friend Eric and her father go to the mall to do some shopping. When they stop in a pizza parlor for a snack, Cam puts her jacket on the back of a chair before joining her father, who is waiting in line to buy pizza. When they return to the table, Cam's jacket is missing. Solving the mystery of the missing jacket requires Cam's amazing memory. Our young protagonist is really named Jennifer; she earned the nickname "Camera" because she can remember everything she has seen. Then the name Camera was eventually shortened to Cam. This "Easy to Read" book features likable characters, short, interesting chapters and colorful illustrations. The author provides "A Cam Jansen Memory Game" on the last page of every book in this series. This allows children to test their own memories about the pictures they have seen while reading the book. The book is one in the publisher's "Young Cam Jansen" mystery series. 2001 (orig. 2000), Puffin Books/Penguin Putnam Books for Young Readers, $13.99 and $3.99. Ages 5 to 8. Reviewer: Jeanne K. K-Gr 2-Another entry in this series of beginning chapter books. Here, Cam, her father, and her friend Eric are eating pizza at the local mall when Cam's jacket disappears. She uses her photographic memory to put all the pieces of the puzzle together and solve the case. The bright cartoonlike watercolors that appear on every page reflect the action and illustrate the pictures in the young detective's head. Adler also includes a memory game in which readers examine a picture and then turn to the back of the book to answer a list of questions about it. Although there isn't much of a mystery to solve, this title may be useful for collections in need of easy-readers.-DeAnn Tabuchi, San Anselmo Public Library, CA Copyright 2000 Cahners Business Information.|

It was a fun and easy read.

I use the product for a summer school program. The children were able to take the book home and read it. Then they would give the class a little report on what they read. It was a very fun book.
