This is a low carb, high protein (meat, eggs, etc), high fat diet. Marilyn changed her game from vehan, to meat lover I am sorry for the people who believed her 27 years ago, and now they are sick. She should be responsible for the damages.
Myth-Busting User Manual to Keep Your Body Fit & Fabulous Young for Life drops a bombshell on many recent food fads as ex-Vegan Marilyn Diamond and her husband and fitness guru Dr. Donald 'Rock' Schnell describe the harrowing turn of events that nearly took Schnell’s life. After Don experimented with vegan diet, reduced cholesterol, and the raw food craze, he ended up off of his previous tried-and-trued anabolic diet and weight-bearing exercise program in a shocking state of insulin-dependence and blood-thick-as-mud condition. Due to such a state of diabetes that heart pain was hard to feel, Don actually suffered a heart attack, and was in serious risk of stroke. This book exposes some of intrinsic risks to the human body after years of vegetarian diet. Vegans and vegetarians who are open-minded have much to gain from the wealth of information provided in Young for Life. As it turns out, there are many harmful dietary recommendations made by groups we trust, such as the ADA, with their high-carbohydrate recommendations. The wisdom in Young for Life is much more than research-based--it’s built from real-life experiences that shares every tip, technique and secret you could hope to learn. Want to know a few quick exercises that can build your chest in minutes a day? It’s included. Interested in learning a simple exercise that reduces lower back pain? It’s here, too. The authors describe the way back to optimal health through the obstacle course of well-intentioned yet dangerous food and exercise assumptions most people make today. Sunshine, butter, isometric exercises and vegetables are good... processed sugar, glutenous wheat, and excessive dependence on pharmaceutical drugs is bad. To list all the myth-busting tips would fill at least one book--I’m amazed at the amount of excellent and profoundly useful information that is packed into this gem of a user manual for keeping your body fit and fabulous.
This book contains groundbreaking information on health. It corrects the manipulative and incorrect information about what’s good for your health that has been spread by profit-driven food companies and pharmaceutics. Actually, you may be shocked to read this most important and scientifically proved, but actively suppressed and censored information. The facts presented in this book turn many myths about health upside down, giving you an easy and healthy way out of the many diseases caused by taking improper food. We have been traveling many times from Holland to the US to attend inspiring live-seminars of Marilyn Diamond and Donald Schnell. Therefore we have had the privilege to apply what they recommend. Their exercises have worked for us so wonderfully. We feel much better and are much stronger. We have no side effects of the high doses of vitamins they advise, only benefits. Even for vegetarians like us many of their recommendation about food can be applied easily. In our opinion, this book is a must-have for anyone who wants to heal from disease, lose weight, and live a happy and healthy life.
This book reads like a novel, you just can't wait until you're on the last side. I didn't like the original Fit for Life book…but this one is great. It retained some aspects of the old 80s book, like food combining (Trennkost, in German) and the importance placed on whole foods. But science has evolved, and so has Marilyn Diamond. The authors don't hide that they used to be vegans, and that they ditched it, because it's not a good diet at all. In the 80s, with the oil crisis behind them, two new concerns became commonplace: Environmentalism and altenative nutrition. Of all alternative nutritionists read as a precocious child (Franz Konz, Helmut Wandmaker come in mind) only Marilyn Diamond evolved beyond the "eat raw food, especially fruit" thing, The eating style outlined in this book is low-carb, as others have noticed…but you would be surprised how many foods you may eat. You may eat cooked vegetables, woo-hoo! You can eat meat, fish, dairy, eggs…you may even drink coffee! The exercises are great, too. I've never found a book that explains a pushup so well, and the isometric exercises are great for all office workers and homemakers. The book is marketed especially toward middle-aged people, but it 's also recommendable to young people. I'm in my early 30s, and I've struggled with obesity for many years. With the program outlined by Marilyn Diamond and Dr. Rock you can actually get a leaner and stronger body. It will boost your self-esteem. It's worth to ditch the sugar, even if it's a habit that is tough to break.
These two people are way off base when it comes to the nutritional needs of the human body. As a personal trainer and nutritionist I am appalled at the information and dietary recommendations they are making. They are however brilliant at marketing.
Truly Amazing Woman that has helped Millions of people and will be helping future generations with easy to understand and use information! Can't wait to see the improvements in myself and friends.
