Overview

Every small town has its challenges; such is their nature. But for the seemingly good people of the town of Felton, in the heart of Polk County, danger seems to lurk around every corner these days for those who just happen to be young.
The first incident arrived amid the blissful sights and smells of the Polk County Fair. The summer revelry would all come to a sudden and tragic end when a rollercoaster car launches from its tracks and into the crowd. Two girls are killed, and a young man is left fighting for his life. But the how, and why, this accident happened will shock readers as much as it shocks the residents of Felton.
And still, in the way only close-knit communities can, the people of Felton rally around the injured and comfort those who loved the lost. As if torn from the canvas of a Norman Rockwell painting, Mary Duncan weaves a story of a town determined to heal, to walk hand-in-hand into the mire and come out clean on the other side.
But for the citizens of Felton, it would appear Evil has not yet called retreat.
When sixteen-year-old Megan Keys vanishes, so does the resolve and unity running through Felton. And when her body is discovered during the ground breaking ceremony for the town’s new hospital, nothing in Felton may ever be the same again.

Meet the Author

My love and passion for writing was apparent very early in my life. I started out with an admiration for poetry. It always amazed me that individual words with little meaning, when placed together, could create tremendous emotion. I have never been able to express myself well verbally, but with the written word I can speak from my heart.
When I was younger, and even as an adult, it became a habit to write a personal expression of poetry for my parents on holidays in place of a store bought card. It meant so much to me, as I watched tears flow from my mother’s eyes as she read the words. This told me she found the sincerity of my warmth and love in the words I so carefully wrote. My father’s eyes would light up and he would hug me and tell me how special it was to him that I gave him something from my heart. My parents were always supportive of my talent with words, giving tons of encouragement along the way. I’m extremely thankful to them.
I have two daughters, a wonderful husband and a much adored granddaughter that means the world to me. I have three step sons, a step daughter and five step grandchildren whom I love and adore. My life has been filled with much excitement along the way. I’ve experienced every emotion life has to offer, but most of my memories are filled with joy and happiness. I’ve truly been blessed.
The simple things in life are very pleasing and relaxing for me. Things like sitting on the front porch taking in God’s beauty and delight, and listening to the wonderful sounds of nature.
My favorite hobbies include, writing of course, sewing, reading, and working in the yard. I am very thankful for all of the blessings that God has placed in my life, and all of the wonderful things he has allowed me to be a part of. I definitely know, with no uncertainty, who guides my journey through life.
I believe the most important things in life are God, family, love, and closeness. I was always reminded as long as these things were present in my life; I had much to be thankful for.

Tara Jackson and Meagan  Keys were lifelong best friends as were their mothers. Soon after the death of Meagan's father they moved into the same neighborhood. Tara's brother, James, was two tears older than the girls and no longer looked at his sister's best friend in the same way he had most of their lives. Tara and James' father served as a policeman as did Meagan's father before he was killed. The two families lives were closely entwined. The County Fair came to town and it had a new added attraction. A large group of the teenagers joined many other people there on Friday night.  It was a night the entire town would never forget. How could such a tragedy occur? What happened? This large tragedy was the first in many years...Would it be the last?  So many lives were affected within a year's time. The intrigue and mysteries continues throughout the book. The characterizations wee well defined. The story was somewhat predictable but  very good. The main issue I had was it was written in a way one might tell a story to a young child, yet it certainly was not written for young children. My review therefor offers this novel a Four Stars rating. I was gifted this book by the author for an honest review, of which I have given.

This is one of the most interesting books I've ever read..could not put down. The prolog pulls you in but, it has so many twist you'll never guess what happens next. Not to mention she is a new local author with so much talent. I can't wait for the next book to become available. All I can say other than this is buy the book and read it, it will grab you like you want believe. Especially if you local yourself, the land marks and well known area leaves you wondering if this really happened and when.
