Meet the Author

Noted by the Chicago Tribune as "one you'd be wise to heed the advice of," Sara McKinniss is a communication professional who grew up during the dot-com boom and launch of social media, but faced the adversity of graduating college at the height of the Great Recession.

Her experiences as a writer, public relations and marketing professional gives her a unique opportunity to share her experiences with others. Through her experiences, she's able to creatively solve complex communication problems.

McKinniss employs her writing skills as founder/editor of YoungProfashionable.com, a website designed to empower young professionals to be their personal best at work and in life. The blog inspired her first eBook "Young Profashionable: A User Manual for the Real World," which was published and made available on via popular eReader platforms.

She was a freelance fashion and style writer for the Dayton City Paper, Yahoo! and other websites before returning to marketing and public relations full-time: notable interviews and career highlights include work with musician John Legend, actor Justin Chambers, fashion designers Althea Harper and Azhand Shokohi, vintage curator Maggie Leadman and fashion publicist Crosby Noricks.

McKinniss guest lectured at Comic-Con International in 2011 on the intersection of social media and film marketing, and she previously presented academic findings regarding marketing collateral on a student panel in 2008. She is also a regular guest speaker and mentor for Wittenberg University's Communication Leaders program. Through these experiences, she hopes to defy her generation's stereotypes and raise the standard for young communication professionals.
