I found this book to be both entertaining and informative. Mr. Bradford had the perfect balance, so that the book flowed. I can't wait to read the next book when it comes out in July. I even ordered the UK version so I didn't have to wait so long. If your interested in Japan and the Samurai, I highly recommend this book to all. Hard to put it down.

When I saw this at my local library, I thought it would be like the Five Ancestors series, which I didn't like at all. However, I got it and I instantly became absorbed in it, unable to set it down until I finished it. I couldn't believe how great this book was, especially for a first-time author. I'm biting my nails just waiting for the sequel to come out in 2010! How will I be able to stand the wait!!! You'll absolutely love this book.

This is an outstanding middle school book. Chris Bradford's first novel is wonderful. His songwriting background shows in poetic descriptions of places, emotions and events. The story fits neatly into the 7th grade social science curriculum for Japan. But better than that, it offers an intersting view of the Japanesse culture through very accessible characters. This book does for Japan that Blood Red Horse does for Islam.

I really liked reading this book! It has high action and is addicting, and I think that Mr. Bradford did a great job of capturing Japanese culture. It's a great book to read for fun, and it will teach you a lot about Japan, too. I highly recommend it!
