Indie folks like us really need fresh ideas to get us out there. I was not expecting much before I read the book but I was so wrong. The ideas in the book are things I can do now. I don't have any doubt that I will see results once I get started. I had always considered myself an idea person but these are concepts I had never considered. This book was such a great investment.

Reviewed by Alice DiNizo for Readers Favorite Author James Moore has written a gem of a book for all aspiring musicians. "Your Band is a Virus" is a book that should be in bookstores, music stores, libraries and in holiday stocks of potential musicians everywhere. The author explains, in the initial chapters, how promoting yourself or your band means working hard to expose your music to "move" people. He notes that the difference between music as a hobby and as a profession is how much effort is expended and where it is directed. Over the years, being a professional musician has developed into one of the most desired professions, but it is not a case of where good music is created and audiences will automatically find that music. The book focuses on the online promotion of music. Moore tells the reader and potential musician that what is needed is money for marketing and lists several online types. He insists correctly that music must be recorded properly and professionally, and that building a website and offering link exchanges with other bands is highly important, "To build momentum, you need to befriend people who are at your level and find ways to help each other." But he also writes "Don't always go through the main channels" for everyone makes their own path in the music world. "Your Band is a Virus" is a very helpful, well-written and well-organized book that musicians everywhere will want to read and refer to. James Moore lists a plethora of online sites for musicians and describes how to use them. He also interviews people of stature in the music industry such as Stuart Epps and Andy Gesner. Potential musicians reading Moore's many suggestions and tips should succeed as long as they "play live and play often" as the author states. What a honey of a book!
