This book deals with some important and potentially very useful concepts, but oy! is it badly written. Between the three credited authors and two acknowledged editors, not one of them seems to know that 'phenomena' is plural, not singular, or the proper use of the comma. It also exhibits all the worst excesses of diet-book writing, including an excessive use of italics and exclamation marks. The chapter on exercise is badly outdated in that it tells its readers that taking a walk or vacuum-cleaning the house is as beneficial as attending a gym. While any exercise is undoubtedly better than none, this point of view cannot be supported either by research or common sense. It also ignores the crucial connection between weight training and osteoporosis prevention. For those interested in an individual approach to health and diet, Dr Peter D'Adamo's book is better written, easier to comprehend, and better organized.
