This book is well written and well documented.I knew water was important but this book not only informed me HOW important, but gives the full physiology of why and how. I have fibromyalgia, chronic fatigue and arthritus. I began drinking the maximum amount of water 5 days ago, and after three days my fatigue had lifted greatly and I was getting more done than I have in a long time. I thought the section on AIDS was particularly interesting and makes a LOT of sense! The medical world seems to ignore the simple, less costly means of healing. I highly recommend this book to everyone. I am ordering it and giving it to friends and relatives.

Excellent!! First let me say that he Body's Many Cries For Water is pheonomianl. I have been in the health care field for over 25 yrs. first as a nurse and now as Naturopath. This book is so comprehensive and elementary. It should be in every home in America. The depth of understanding to which the author has taken you with the amazing ablility to speak to the average person as well the medically educated is absolutely incredible. Practical advise the lay person can follow, yet as a medical professional, I found it to be refreshing in the simplicity of unerstanding how the human body functions on the simplest to the most complex levels. It is so clearly written. The author brings the body's response to what we do or don't do into an understandable forum of how one function effects another an leads one to an optimal state of health or lack thereof. Gives practical ways to take control of one's own health situation and become more involved and responsible. Excellent journey. A must read especially for health professionals.

Drawing Attention to the Many Values of Enough Pure Water! Reviewer: Donald Wayne Mitchell from a management consultant in Boston Before reviewing the book, let me mention that I heard Dr. Batmanghelidj talk and later met him about ten years ago at a conference I attended. During the Iranian Revolution, he was imprisoned along with many members of the Shah's supporters. Because he was a physician, he was often told by the guards to treat the other prisoners. In doing this, he usually had no medicines or instruments. The prisoners often were suffering from stomach ulcers and were cut off from their normal medications. Often, all he could do was to get the patients to drink some water. To his own surprise, water drinking helped many feel better. After a time, it seemed like the effect was stronger than what a mere placebo could cause. After he was pardoned by the new regime, he voluntarily stayed in prison to begin to run experiments testing his informal observations. Since leaving Iran, he has done much research in reviewing the published literature and has conducted further experiments. This book is based on what he has learned since then. I bought the book, and began drinking more water. I found that my weight dropped more than 20 pounds in about four months, I had more energy, and my allergies improved. I also found that I had less desire for caffeine and alcohol. My mood improved, as well. Since then, I have given this book as a gift to dozens of people who described themselves as having the potentially water-related health problems described in this volume. Most of them have reported improvements. I have not had such a positive response from any other health book that I have shared with others. The book's basic point is that our bodies are 75 percent water. Because we are so dependent on keeping this balance (especially in our brains), the body has many mechanisms to conserve water for its most essential uses. When we become too dehydrated for too long, these conservation systems can produce unpleasant and unhealthy symptoms of pain, high blood pressure, depression, and allergies. Most physicians will treat the symptom rather than looking for potential causes. In many cases, water will help. The book explains why for pain from dyspepsia, colitis, false appendicitis attacks, general abdominal pressure, rheumatoid arthritis, back and neck pressure, angina, and headaches. He also addresses water-related mechanisms for helping relieve stress, depression, high blood pressure, high blood cholesterol, excessive weight, asthma, allergies, and diabetes. Although I am not a scientist or a physician, the arguments seemed solid enough to try more water. At the same time, I could see no harm from drinking more water. I believe I have been helped, especially by drinking more water before, during, and after long plane flights. Dr. Batmanghelidj also includes his ideas about how AIDS could be related to body chemistry imbalances in the book. This section does not fit with the rest of the material or to drinking more water, and I did not know what to make of it. The basic problem is that as we get older, we lose our sense of thirst. As a result, unless we pay attention to drinking more water, we won't drink enough. If you are like me, you will find that you have to spread the water out over the day to get the right amount. I usually drink one eight-ounce serving at a time. I prefer bottled water, and often put fruit slices in it for variety. But when bottled water isn't available, I let tap water sit long enough for the chlorine to leave. I also choose clear soups, and vegetables and fruits with lots of water content when they are available. This reduces how much has to be drunk as water. Many people who drink little water tell me that they do not have access to clean rest rooms during much of the day. For those individuals, learning to time water consumption is critical. I love this book. After reading the book, I am already sleeping better. I am doing what the Dr. recommends to keep hydrated now for less than a week, I just have to wait and see the changes in my health manifest. I am so excited about this book that I will be giving copies as gifts at Christmas time this year. It is the gift of life.

I read the 1st Edition of 'Your Body's Many Cries For Water' around April 1993. I found the book to be interesting and the information made a lot of sense. At that time, I had been diagonosed with mild manic depression and had been taking lithium for 4 or 5 years. After reading the book, I decided to drink MORE water. What did I have to lose? In addition, I began taking a PATENTED multi-vitamin at that time to make sure my body was absorbing minerals into my cells. If you're drinking a lot of water, it can cause a loss of salt and water soluble vitamins. Therefore, as stated in the book you may need to increase your vitamin intake from foods or supplements, and you may need to add salt. I'm HAPPY to say that I weened myself off the Lithium after about 2 months of increasing my water intake and taking the unique multi-vitamins. I have CONTINUED this regimen and I have not needed to take the Lithium nor have I had to see a doctor for almost 9 years. My LIFE has been truly ENHANCED from reading the book. My suggestion is to read the book for yourself. Then, you decide if water can make a difference in YOUR quality of LIFE. From the chapter on AIDS page 133, 'AIDS is not a viral disease but a metabolic disorder precipitated by an exaggerated way of life' and page 141 'coupled to the needed education about the destructive effects of giving in to homosexual experimentation.' I think that gives you an idea about the merits of this book.

This is an incredible book. It is no wonder Americans are having so many health problems. I am so glad I have the opportunity to drink 'Living Water'.
