This book makes fertility awareness easy. While there are other books that are more detailed and provide more in-depth information, they can be hard to get through and sometimes overwhelming. This straight-forward books helps the beginner understand what fertility awareness is and begin using the technique immediately. The focus on cervical mucus is something I particularly liked and found very informative. Even though I am very seasoned at knowing my fertility, I always find myself coming back to this book for brush-ups. The illustrations are cute and help keep the humor. It's a quick read too, which is helpful. I've used this book for years, and will be buying a copy for my sister as a wedding gift soon.

I found this book outdated, confusing and condescending. After going off the pill I was looking for a basic book on tracking fertility for when I was ready to become pregnant. What first put me off the book was the section on the pill. Specifically, it was clear to me that the author was promoting her own agenda of 'the natural way or nothing.' The author stated that in her opinion it's 'unthinkable' to harm your body (via the pill) in order to have unlimited access to intercourse. She added that users of the pill are often infertile for months or even years afterward and that pregnancy sooner than 3 to 6 months after stopping the pill often results in miscarriage. This info. is just plain wrong. I plowed through anyway, then I reached whole chapters on how partners can deal with abstinence including such methods as looking into eachothers eyes for minutes on end and then discussing their reactions. All in all, this book reminded me of an outdated, high school health class text book that was written decades ago. Although the section on tracking cervical mucus was helpful, the same info. can be obtained on-line. Not worth buying the book.

I love this book! I read if after the birth of my second child when I decided The Pill, even a mini-version, was not right for me. Since then I have avoided pregnancy when I wanted and achieved three pregnancies when I wanted. Every woman should read it before considering other methods, which can be risky, and sometimes dangerous. Was this review helpful? Yes NoThank you for your feedback. I had been looking for this information for years, and finally a friend told me about this book. It is written in such a simple, straightforward way that after I read it, I said, is this all there is to it? This book makes fertility awareness easy. The book has lots of illustrations, and they are clear, useful, and sometimes funny. I used the method for years to prevent pregnancy, and then I used it to get pregnant. Was this review helpful?
