Milsom, who runs the Anything Left Handed shop in London, gives readers and educators an excellent tool for helping young lefties with everyday tasks and beyond. While estimates are that one in every ten persons are left-handed (including such luminaries as Bill Gates, Paul McCartney, and Julius Caesar), products that help these individuals lag behind. Beginning with an insightful consideration of the genetics and medical theories behind hand dominance, the author segues gracefully into strategies for specific tasks, such as tying shoes, pouring and cutting, writing, and sports and related equipment. Milsom's prose is relaxed and inspiring, and the volume's physical presentation is nothing short of beautiful. With full-color photos, plentiful sidebars, and slick, heavy-duty paper, the book is a visual delight married to a polished and uplifting text. VERDICT This is a required purchase for all public libraries and should be the destination read for all early educators.
