    The number 1 preggo book

I loved this book, so much that I am keeping it forever, and I found this site, so I can buy it for a friend that just found out she is preggo. I love that there are pictures showing the actual size of the baby it was a great way to show my husband exactly what was going on, I also loved how it broke down eack week and trimester I would recomend this book to every first time mom and dad.

This was my favorite pregnancy book!! So much so that after I would have a baby I would give it to someone because I loved it and then end up having to buy it again for my next pregnancy!!

    No thank you

The first thing I read about when I flipped open this book was the high rate of birth defects for the babies of mothers over 35. The second time I flipped the book open I read a terrible fact about what a baby will look like if you miscarry at X weeks. I continued to read, but found few, if any useful facts. I'm not interested in fear and imagery that will haunt me in the middle of the night. I'd rather read about the healthy and wonderful experience of being pregnant and hopeful for the future. As someone said to me recently 'pregnancy is not a medical condition,' and I'd like to find a book that doesn't treat it like one.

    Good for first time mothers

I found this book to be very helpful in detailing some of the changes my body would experience. It also allowed me to think about how my sex life may need to be altered during pregnancy given the changing levels of hormones in the body. This book is not for someone only interested in the developmental changes in the baby.

    Great Reference

I loved this book with my first pregnancy & plan on using it with my second. I liked this book because it detailed the baby's & mothers progress week by week & I didn't have to have a lot of time to read each week. There was a lot of informative information. I used this book in conjuction with other pregnancy books.

    This book makes you worry

This book is all negative!! This is my second pregnancy and it STILL has me freaking out about things I know are fine! I would like to concentrate more on the positives of being pregnant, not focus on all the things that COULD go wrong.

Not for the faint of heart

This book is okay. Wouldn't recommend if you are a hypochondriac or a worrier like me. Every chapter informs you of what could go wrong that week or month with the baby. I don't like that. I want to know positive things going on with the baby not that she could develop this abnormality this week. Also, very random topics are thrown around the weeks.

First time mom's, read this it says it all.

As the mother of 2 I have well used my copy and it is the best, I did'nt take any birth classes with either of mine because I felt this book took care of all the info and my questions. It covers every thing, including natural birth & C-Sections. If your a first time mom this book is the first book you should buy because you may not need another one.

    Too much common sense information

I just got this book and am only on Week 6 in my pregnancy and I feel as if I've wasted my money. Too much time is spent on how you shouldn't smoke, drink, do drugs what you should be wary of if you have STDs, etc. None of this applies to me and I highly doubt that anyone who would take the time to buy a pregnancy book doesn't already know that you shouldn't do drugs or smoke when you're pregnant. I'm hoping it improves as we get further down the road.

    Response to reviews

I have not actually read this book yet in my second pregnacy but plan too. With my first pregnancy I read all the books that were just 'positive' and did not present 'rare' conditions as one review complained that it did. Through out my first pregnancy I had no complications but I still lost my baby during labor full term due to a short umbilical cord accident that is no where listed in pregnancy books. I would rather have known of 'rare conditions' for a 'what if' rather than assume all is great and nothing could go wrong. Everyone is entitled to their oppinion but some of you mothers who write these begative reviews should possibly consider the fact the book might actually help someone who might have to go through such an unimaginable experience that I have.

    No Joy Here

This book lightly touches on the baby's week by week development, with drawings, which is nice. But there is not enough information about this positive event (the baby's growth) and way too much detail about all the things that might go wrong and things you should have done before you got pregnant (like achieve your ideal weight?!?). I felt fine until I read this book, then I imagined all sorts of symptoms and deficiencies. When I stopped reading it, I felt fine again.

    Where are the statistics?

I like the updates on the baby's size every week, but I hate how information on rare problems are presented. No statistics or risk factors-- just 'ohh, you might have this'. It is irresponsible to put fear into people without painting the whole picture.

    the best so far

I love this book. When your expecting and you dont have any symptoms besides the most obvious one its nice to know whats going on inside you every week. My favorite part of each week in the book is that it tells you the size and weight of the baby. Plus it compares its size to things like at 18 weeks the baby is the size of your hand spread out. I enjoyed every part of this book. Weekly details of the babys growth, changes in your own body and ect.

    You Must Have This Book!

I bought this book & couldn't be any happier. It is organized & easy to read. It provides you with enough information to get you excited and up to date each week, without being too scary or boring. It's been on target with my pregnancy. Try it yourself!

    Buy this Book!

This is my first pregnancy, and I have several books. This one (by far) is the best, especially since it updates you every WEEK, not every month, like some others do. It is easy to understand. I am 25 weeks now, and it has been 100% accurate for me.

The best one I have. Recommend highly!

I recommend this book to anyone interested in size of baby each week. I like this one better than 'What to expect when you're expecting' which is also very good. Very helpful book.

    A great weekly reference!

I love this book! I have all the other ones your suppose to get but found that they aren't specific enough and talk about a month at a time. For me, each week is a whole different story so I love that this book tells me exactly whats happening each week.

    Don't like this book!

I give this book a 'one star' because it doesn't do a good job explaining what is happening to your baby during the particular week. I want to know that my baby is growing a kidney, etc and this book never mentions the 'tiny' details. I HIGHLY recommend 'The Pregnancy Journal by A. Christine Harris' for someone who wants to know the details, like myself.

    Best Pregnancy book out there!!!

I originally bought 'What to Expect When You're Expecting' and was very dissappointed. Then I bought this book. It walks you through your pregnancy week by week, what you're feeling, what's going on inside your body, and how your baby is developing. It's scarey how on the mark the book is every week. This book is so helpful. I've been keeping notes in it to refer back to when I have my next child to compare how I feel. The book also has 'Dad Tips' that are fun to share with your husband. My husband and I read our new week every Saturday morning so we both know what's going on with our baby's growth.
