Editorial Reviews

From Barnes & Noble

This is the first book of daily teachings by Vietnamese Zen Buddhist monk Thich Nhat Hanh (Peace Is Every Step; The Miracle of Mindfulness). The practical quotations of Your True Home can be used as daily prompts to the practice of mindfulness and compassion. Memorable insights from a beloved teacher.

From the Publisher
“Thich Nhat Hanh shows us the connection between personal inner peace and peace on earth.”—His Holiness the Dalai Lama

“Thich Nhat Hanh writes with the voice of the Buddha.”—Sogyal Rinpoche, author of The Tibetan Book of Living and Dying

“365 pithy teachings. . . . In the editor’s preface, Melvin McLeod suggests reading them slowly, maybe one or two a day, in order to savor and digest them more fully. This is excellent advice, but whenever I sit down with the book, I find myself reading ‘just one more’ and ‘just one more’ again.”—Shambhala Sun

“What I most appreciate in this little book is how each passage cuts directly through to the heart of the matter. The selections are simple, profound, and meaningfully applicable to everyday life in today’s world.”—New Spirit Journal

“Melvin McLeod has done a wonderful job of compiling one year’s worth of Hanh’s teachings. Each reading is short: none is more than a half page in length and most are shorter. Yet each contains a potent seed capable of transforming a day or even a lifetime if allowed to take hold and grow. If the world could practice what Hanh preaches, I believe the major problems facing our world today could be resolved.”—San Francisco Book Review

“Be there truly. Be there with 100 percent of yourself. In every moment of your daily life. That is the essence of true Buddhist meditation. That is why I like to define mindfulness as the energy that helps us to be there 100 percent. It is the energy of your true presence.”
