Children's Literature - Marilyn Courtot
A sticker on the front lets readers know that there are twelve possible endings for this story. As you read the text, questions are asked and based on your response you turn to certain pages to continue the story. Most of them are pretty simplistic and the illustrations all appear to be computer generated. After trying a half a dozen or so paths, I tried just reading through to see what that would be like. It of course makes no sense to read the book that way so you really are forced to make some choices, which means flipping back and forth among the pages. The basic premise is that your parents have discarded some material that can be used to build a robot. You put it together, but then things seem to go awry. Can you make your robot behave? It may appeal to some readers, but neither the story nor the images were engaging enough for this reviewer to place this book in the recommended for purchase category. Reviewer: Marilyn Courtot

My 7 year old son loved this book so much he read all the different endings in one day. The only problem we had was a type - o for one story line. We finally figured out that one story line never got used so on page 43 when it says go to page 11 it should say go to page 12. Overall a great book that I would recomment to anyone who has kids k-3

I was so excited to see that Choose Your Own Adventure was exhibiting at BEA. I loved those books when I was younger. I picked up this earlier reader adventure for my 6 year-old son. I was waiting for him to get a little better at reading, so he could read it to me, but in the end, I ended up reading it to him twice. The first time we read it, we must have made all the wrong choices because our adventure ended after only about 10 pages and was quite dull. The second time we read the book, we made better choices, but the book was still shorter than I would have liked. We had a couple of twists and turns in the roughly 25 pages I had to read that time, but the book overall is 80 pages, so there's a lot we still haven't explored. This book would make a better independent read because the young reader (ages 5-8) would be tired of reading right around the time the adventure ends. The re-readability of this book is great because the story changes every time. It's almost as fun as I remember, and I know we'll read it again a couple more times, but I think we'll wait until my son truly can read it on his own. http://www.momsradius.com/2016/11/book-review-your-very-own-robot-easy.html

My 7 year old loves this book! He is able to read it himself, which is a plus. The other evening, I found my 10 year old daughter in his room, reading it out loud to him. She really likes it too. It would be a great book to bring on a trip-instead of several books, they can just keep changing their choices and reading different stories. Highly recommended for the 5-10 year old crowd!
