Dr. Evans was ahead of her time. We are now reaping the bitter harvest of many of the things she cited in her book: inattention to the needs of children by the agencies, over-extension of tasks into unrelated fields and general non-interest in the client. In many cases this is due to overwork, but in others it is due to a situation in which people work only for a pay check. Everyone should read this book. It describes the difficulties children face during their time in the system, as well as the racism that prevents qualified black parents from adopting children of other races. Was this review helpful?
