Editorial Reviews

Publishers Weekly
In one of four books launching the Hello, Friends! series, diminutive Owl drops subtle hints to Panda and Sheep that they might share their ice cream: " ‘Yummy ice cream,' says Panda. ‘It looks yummy,' says Owl." Walker incorporates collaged fabric prints into creamy, sage backdrops (Sheep's ice cream looks like it was borrowed from Strawberry Shortcake's closet), providing a gentle contrast with the muted colors of the animals. Quay and Walker nicely convey both Owl's longing and joy when Panda and Sheep finally share. The well-trod message is delivered with panache and abundant sweetness. Available simultaneously: Let's Play House; Goodnight Sleep Tight; and Puddle Jumping. Up to age 2. (Apr.)
