Editorial Reviews

Children's Literature - Marilyn Courtot
Kids who want to experience the thrill of high speed and who are fascinated by vehicles, especially racing cars, will learn quite a lot in this ABC book. The letter "A" introduces the announcer who keeps those attending or listening to a race up to speed on what is happening. A "D" driver never wants to put on the "B" brakes because if he stops too quickly the rubber tires might start to smoke. The goal is to be the first one to cross the "F" finish line and win the race. "M" is for the motor which determines how fast and powerful the car will be. "P" is for pit stop where "G" gasoline may be added and "T" tires changed using a "J" jack. The real test is what the author will come up with for those difficult letters without stretching beyond the focus of the book. In this case "U" for uniform, "V" for victory lap, "X" for extreme speed and "Z" for zoom all fit the context nicely. Reviewer: Marilyn Courtot
