Overview

Zach Carter, a former San Diego police officer, is one of the handful of survivors of the worldwide Zombie affliction, living day to day in a world that has thrown humanity back to the teetering edge between survival and annihilation.

Teamed up with comrades who also lost everything but are trying to hang on to the kernel of humanity that keeps them trudging forward, they are recruited by the remnants of the federal government into an advance scouting team, the Zombie Expeditionary Detail [Z.E.D.], that seeks to pushback the undead horde and secure mankind's right to exist.

Along the way, they discover the origin of the plague that turns human beings into animals, and a far more sinister conspiracy that aims to turn Zeke into the dominant species on Earth.
