Editorial Reviews

School Library Journal
PreS-Gr 3-- Bright, bold illustrations carry this slight story. Zebra has the hiccups and because he is ``very serious and dignified'' he rejects the advice of the other animals on how to get rid of them. He is dismayed to find that his stripes start to blend together as a result of his affliction. In desperation, he tries various cures, but to no avail. The animals try another tactic--buckets of cold water. The hiccups disappear, the stripes reappear, and Zebra realizes that he has some new friends. The humorous tone and the handsome, colorful illustrations done in a graphic, poster-art style make this a good read-aloud for younger children. (Hopefully, they won't try any of the suggested solutions the next time someone has the hiccups!) --Cyrisse Jaffee, Newton Public Schools, MA
